True. Thank God that our Fed officials do not have to run campaigns and take lobbyists money.
If Fed powers ever get folded into the realm of politcally-elected officials I will formally and officially declare that I think we are done as a nation.

Why leave it in the hands of who makes better propaganda?
I agree with your assesment of the common American...(my words now, not yours)...They are given a weak education in school, and are brainwashed thereafter via TV, radio, newsprint.
Their potential is unlimited, but far more often than not...they are ignorant and don't bother to research and learn. (myself included)
If you can't pass a test on knowledge of what you are voting on...you should not be allowed to vote IMO.

So Lance while you are being a sponge over here, can I sell you on my multi-owner theory for football? I thought I could catch you at a weak moment!

As an aside, I was initially very interested in Ron Paul as a Presidential candidate. But two things blew that up for me.
(1) He wants to a abolish the Fed. That would be an absolute disaster on so many levels its scary.
(2) He is a protectionist. That goes against rational principles of the economic benefit of globalization - and it's benefits are not just economic, as the economic interdependence across borders also should help maintain political stability, very important in an increasingly technologically-advanced, and thereby, dangerous world.
I love many of his ideas and principles on political reform, accountability, government spending, civil liberties, etc.

you are correct #1 he does want to abolish the FED and it wouldn't be scary Washington D.C. and every major city existed without it
#2 you are wrong he is a free trader , he does not want to be the POLICEMAN of the World and he is right why should I send my kids to go fight for another country under the guise of freedom. Imagine if they brought all the troops home how much money would be saved annaully? Trillions, and why do we keep sending forgein aid to forgein nations? In this Stimulus bill I understand 30 billion Imagine my shock was going to Africa to fight Aids. WHY? Again george Carlin was right.
And I love ROn Paul, he voted the bill and I bet he was the ONLY ONE that actually read it! Sad

Globalization : the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets.
It sounds OK...as long as the individual governments don't follow suit and globalize currency and power.

If he in fact is for free trade and just didnt like those pieces of legislation, then perhaps I am down to one issue with which I disagree with him. But it's unfortunately a monster diargeement, so it wouldn't change my opinion. If the Fed was abolished and those powers concentrated into the Treasury - you'll be in for your worst nightmare.

A personal philosophical note...
As a product of our government schooling...I was raised to think a certain way.
As a free thinking adult...I tended toward a "no religion" and "no countries" mentality.
The more I learn...the more I believe it is of most importance that countries retain their chosen religions and cultural traditions. To retain their individual constitutions.
To strip away individual constitutions and traditions and replace them with a "one world" constitution would be a worse scenario than world war 3.
