I'll take #8 in the second mock if I can...and I promise not to draft a catcher in the second round again. ;)
I'm assuming the player who drafts number 1 takes A-Rod. I thought you would like Hanley to slide to you at 3.

I have no problem with you taking Hanley #1. I think you could win with either player.
I think maybe in New York Reyes will go top 2 a lot but I cannot see him going number 2 much.

What positions are not seeing the love?

Seven of us do not have a 2B yet and nine of us do not have a catcher. Not earth shattering, but may be an early trend on general drafting strategies.

Shandler would not be amused ( :D ) as he has long been an advocate of having all your CM and MI positions filled, plus two pitchers (CL and SP) and one each OF and C in the first ten rounds.

Everybody has at least two SP by now, but two of us do not have Closers.

Three of us have four outfielders and two of us only have one.

Fun facts to know and bore your friends...

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Ahead of the Mitchell report, I'll take Gary Matthews Jr.

More fun facts to know and bore your friends:

One hundred seventy players drafted – 59 pitchers (34.7%). Thirty-nine SP and 20 relievers.

Eight Catchers, 15 1B, 11 2B, 15 SS, 14 3B, 45 OF and 3 DH.

Does the term “sleeper” apply to a top 170 pick? I have always laughed at the term for a consensus top 250/300 guy; however, I can see the “steals sleeper” title having validity.

I was surprised that Fields only stole one base (2 attempts) last season as he had 8 with only 73 times (18% SBO) on first in AAA before his call-up in addition he was 28 of 33 in 2006.

But atleast I have waited to rounds 11 and 12 to damage by batting average, not rounds 5 and 9. ;)
