a) Any Sat. draft result from more than a week before the main is fairly useless...in fact...viewing the boards the Friday before the Main allows you to see how others did from your draft spot, and have much more value IMO.

b) Drafting before Spring Training gives you a chance to get more "sleepers" before they become top 10 rounders after everyone sees their spot in the order or clear cut playing time.

c) I resisted doing any this season simply to have 100% surprise advantage during the Main. Nobody will know who I really like, because nobody will have seen a money draft from me.

d) Too much variance of opinion on players to really justify reliance on the results of a Sat. Unless you did one with someone in your Main league...you never know who's gonna reach for whom.

e) I do not want to "fall in love" with players I draft on Feb 26th, and follow them closer than other potential draft picks during Spring Training...and lose that neutral attitude toward all players needed on draft day.

f) I don't want to spend 5 times the effort each week on waivers for five leagues...but rather fives times the effort for the ONE league that matters most.

g) The progressive "leaking" of Sat. results actually does damage to your "sleepers" and has a panic/snowball effect as each draft may show a guy being selected a bit higher, and thus puts the pressure on to reach a bit further...whereas this would NOT be the case if all results were kept secret/unknown. (This can also be taken advantage of)

At least that's what I'm trying this season...if it fails...I'll scrap it.

~Lance I agree with everything you said. Well thought out.

~Lance good to hear. i think you've placed a fair amount of pressure on yourself with this "new man" talk. i hope it doesn't drive you to drink. oh...wait a minute. :D
Yes...I'm putting as much pressure as possible on myself.

I'm awesome under pressure...have been all my life.

I had zero pressure the last two NFBC events...and didn't take them seriously at all. I printed out sheets last mi

I have put in 1000 times the effort for this season.

I'm almost sure that if I fail to reach the top 50 in the overall...I'll take 2009 off as punishment for wasted effort.

Weather it was sports, work, interviews or testing...I've always excelled under pressure when I wanted something.

...and I want to succeed in the NFBC this season.

I am sure that you have more than one drafting strategy ready to be deployed at the Main. Satelites are an excellent oppurtunity to try out different theories as well as gauging what others will do in a competitive setting.

i always operate as though drafts (even satellites) are a time to execute your plan, not try out different theories? am i wrong?
Yes.
does that mean you have more or less respect for me if i can win my league without doing a satellite league :D
Same. Just a road less traveled. I have a feeling you'll be successful either way.

Mark the correct answer is

C - shouldn't matter

The satellites have NOTHING to do with the main event.

A good player like yourself has studied the players and can adapt regardless of whether you have seen others draft.

Looking down the satelite lists, I see a couple of the same names in at least 10 different leagues. :eek:

I would not want to be those guys on Sunday.

I was in five last year. One satelite, Champs Magazine, Content League,Shawn Childs League, and the Main.

Looks like five again this year and also looking after Gordon's team. I was comfortable with five last year, stressing only a couple of Sundays. I have reduced my non-NFBC team(s) to one so that'll help.

Gekko...if you do one then great if you don't then thats fine too....i wouldn't worry much about people changing their strategy off of what someone else has done in a satellite..seems ridiculous to me...plus if your draft position is different then you will be drafting a whole different roster. I have done 1 satellite each year before the main event and I do believe it has helped me get a better feel of what the world is really thinking.. with the breakouts and falls of so many different players from year to year the drafts change so much every year that it definitely doesn't hurt to get a real draft in there before. If you come ready then it doesn't matter what anyone is doing or thinking...
Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm bad....but I always try real hard.

ADP's from Satellite leagues are one thing, a tool to use; take them for what they are worth; Magazines are one thing, a tool; take them for what they are worth; Shandler, fantasy sites, your own research are just one thing, a tool; take them for what they are worth; people posting their sleepers, breakout players, players who will regress, just more things; tools to use;

People posting that they won't participate in Satellites, mocks, etc because they don't want people to know "their" thoughts; well, I have an answer for that but will keep it to myself.

No one has a crystal ball; you draft with your heart, blood and guts research and may the chips fall where they will.

In season management is what will separate all us us; the other, the unfortunate injuries that will occur and we all know they will.

My private league is drafting tonight through MDC with knowledgable players like Kenny Magner, Gene McCaffrey, Jesse Herron, Ken Norred and some very good CDM players and players who will be in NFBC Main event and don't post here; it is ONLY a $300 entry fee league, but let me assure you, they will DRAFT TO WIN and not worry about giving away their sleeper picks. We are a competitive bunch in this great thing called fantasy baseball; the one thing we all have in common is we want to win;

Good luck to all in these final two weeks of preparation. Two weeks from today we will all be in one of four great cities. I for one can't wait. This board will go from speculation to reality.
