A list of people for Milton Bradley to meet in Illinois:

Dr Phil- Dr. Phil still has ties to Chicago and Oprah, he will need a psychiatrist.

Oprah- Hopefully she can teach him not to play the race card so quickly when things don't go well for him.

Dick Butkus- He played football with mangled fingers and toes, knees of jello, and a back that miraculously only hurt after the game. Maybe Butkus can get Bradley to play more than 130 games of baseball in a season.

-------------------------------------------------

A list of people for Milton Bradley to stay away from or have limited contact with, in Illinois-

Rod Blagojevich- I think I speak for everyone in that we don't want to see Bradley in the Senate.

Carlos Zambrano- Fierce competitor, not afraid to tell it like it is, a good fighter.

Lou Piniella- See Carlos Zambrano.

----------------------------------------------

Those who can't wait to see Milton Bradley come to Illinois-

WGN- Like waiting for a bomb to go off. They can't promo it, because they don't know when, but they will keep an extra camera on Bradley.

State tax department- More money for the state.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield- The Cubs just couldn't stand prosperity. Prior and Wood off the books, now Bradley on.The premiums have just ballooned. The Cubs had beter hope they don't miss a payment.

The numbers are good, tempting even, but I'm not pulling the trigger.

I'm more concerned with Bradley staying healthy than with his temper. MB and Z could get along well so long as Bradley isn't catching - in common they are fierce competitors and like destroying the clubhouse (and Lou too, for that matter). He could fit in the clubhouse - with the media and fans, maybe another story.

With due respect to Vander, I am lost with the Cubs recent moves. Give up De Rosa for 3 not near ready prospects on a team built to win now and then take the money and sign Bradley?!!?

Granted DeRosa had a career year that he likely does not duplicate...the 21 HR were inflated. But he has hit around 290 for 3 straight years, is a clutch hitter who drives in decent amount of runs and can play several positions which is huge given that the 2b situation is a bit in flux along with a corner OF position.

There is no question that Bradley is overall the more talented player, but he has a long history of being a "me" type of guy, and as ALL fantasy players know, he is the poster boy for the oft-injured.

To me DeRosa is a better ingredient for a winning team that already has a wealth of talent. And this is not even a close call. The Cubs will rue this signing.

Milton Bradley - a.k.a. Entourage. Because you always need 2-3 extra guys on reserve to hang around with him

Hey...the Cubbies need someone on their team who will get hurt often enough to justify giving Pie another "chance to prove himself"!

[/QB]Regardless of the premiums collected, I think you can pen in BCBS as a loser on this deal. With baseball contracts guaranteed, Cubs mgt will ensure Bradley's gonna see a whole lot of physicians, nutritionists, therapists (both mental and physical), etc. Gonna cost BCBS a lot imho.

The other things to consider is how much of last years success was driven by Arlington - I don't have the splits handy - but I seem to remember he was much better at home than on the road - although Wrigley does have it's upsides as a home ballpark. Also - gotta wonder how he stays in the lineup everyday and healthy without the benefit of the DH.

But I agree - if he slips far enough there is profit to be made by rostering him.
