Chris Young

Jay Bruce

Carlos Gomez

Ryan Ludwick

Lastings Milledge

My Dad and I drafted this team and he didn't like our outfield. Other than the potential BA dud I don't think it's that bad.

What do you guys think?

Definately a lot of upside with that OF. If all 5 take another step forward this year, it could work out awesome. But if 2 or 3 of them take a step backwards it could be bad news. You may have been better off throwing in a few proven vets.

Obviously depends upon the rest of your offense, but it is an interesting OF...every guy has interesting possibilities

Eli,

I think that is a nice looking team.

I am not a huge fan of Gomez, but I don't have a problem with any of the other guys.

You obviously will very weak in saves (only one closer, and not a top tier one) and while your top 2 starters are great (CC and Haren), the rest of the pitching staff is shaky IMO. Pitching could really be your downfall.

I think you did a nice job with the hitters, although BA could be an issue.

EVERYONE has weaknesses and holes, but this team looks like it will be "in the hunt".

Nice job! :D

Thanks for the comments.

We weren't real happy with Gomez either, but we were lacking SB's at the time and we figured he'd get us to our targets so we grabbed him.

Last year we were able to win a satellite league with only 4 points in SV's due to having only one closer.

In fact, we've drafted 3 satellite teams so far and we have only 1 closer in two of the drafts and 0 closers in one of them. We have one more draft coming up and we may try the "standard" approach and grab two closers.

We're of the camp that believes pitching is expendable so we went with some high risk/high reward types to round out the squad (except for Millwood - not sure what we were thinking there). I'm sure most of the Carpenter, Escobar, Jannsen, Hill, and Ziegler combo won't work out, but we got fairly comfortable last year working the waiver wire so we'll be picking up guys every week until something sticks.
