A .320+ BA and more power/rbi potential. Sizemore is great, gives you runs scored and SB, but if he finishes on the .270 BA of his potential rather than the .285 BA side of his potential, that is a hole.
Also, even if you rank them relatively equal, one is an infielder, one is an outfielder. I would lean towards the IFer, myself.

The 3B position is so scarce this year (especially with A-Rod down) that Wright is a no-brainer.
With a top 4 pick, you need POWER, SPEED, and a nice BA.
Wright is the only guy that gives you all 3 of those.

The days of Wright stealing 30 are long gone.
I'd put his peak at around 18 for the rest of his career, with each year getting closer to 12.
Just my guess.

~Lance Agreed Lance, but 15-18 steals with 30+ HRS, and a .300 plus average at a VERY scarce position is not a bad way to start.

This guy must know the first 3 picks are in stone, because Mr. Wright went 2nd in my main event league, and it was not a surprise.

Side note...did you read about Hanley getting pissed off about the Marlins new hair and jewelry code?
He may have been playing "pouty", and got told he's above the rule!
Dinger today!

~Lance [/QUOTE]I got Wright at 4 last week in the Main, and had NO PROBLEM taking him.
That being said, the three ahead of him aren't too shabby either.
Sizemore gives you everything, but I just have a hard time starting the draft with a guy who might hit between .270-.280.

He'd be on base so many more times...it would have to translate into more runs and RBI and steals! (and an occasional homer)...he'd be a top 5 pick!
Assuming 612 AB...
Last year he hit .268 (164 hits)
.285 would have him at 175 hits (11 more hits, homers, rbi, runs, steals)
Plus he's a dead ringer for my cousin.

I guess this could technically be true assuming Wright takes at least one at bat from the 5 hole this year. After 728 PA as a 3 hitter last year and knowing that he's hitting 3rd this spring including yesterday's game before you posted, what makes you think he'll bat 5th this year?

The first 12 minutes of Jerry Manuel’s just-completed 14-minute interview session focused squarely on the lineup he is sending out tonight to face the Washington Nationals.
On to the highlights from Manuel’s session:
* Carlos Delgado is entrenched as the cleanup hitter.
* David Wright, who will bat third tonight, and Carlos Beltran, who will hit fifth, are considered “interchangeable” in Manuel’s mind.

Wright, Beltran, and Delgado all had outstanding seasons last year batting primarily in that order. Also makes the most sense simply based on age, speed, power, and most importantly-OBP. Managers certainly don't always side with what makes sense, we can both agree on that much.

Manuel is also the guy who on the 3rd day of spring said Murphy was the 2 hole hitter, and the last 3 games he hit 7th. The one thing we should all be able to agree on is that Manuel is a sausage.
