Top 10- Careers Defined
Not really a top 10 list per se, just a list of players whose careers were defined or remembered more by one pitch or at bat than their careers. I am sure there are others.
Vic Wertz
Ralph Branca
Bobby Thompson
Carl Mays
Ray Chapman
Billy Buckner
Mookie Wilson
Bucky Dent
Johnny Roseboro
Tony Conigliaro

Can't accept Larsen.
His was not over one pitch or at bat, but one game.

Luis Gonzalez - a good player, but his hit off of Mo' will resonate much longer than the embodiment of his career....especially if the Yanks can't capture that 'elusive' 27th ring.

Or guys who have their careers tied together inexplicably by one fateful moment. Maybe a whole other list, but Branca and Thomson and Eckersley and Gibson come to mind. Fosse and Rose maybe. There must be other injury related ones. Doughboys is so much better at this than I am!

Along the same lines, how about Lou Gherig, whose defining moment was not a play in a game, but a speech. When you think of these guys, you think of these moments first, or at least most people do.
