This could be a fun link. In NY7, I was a bit surprised to see Willy Taveras go for $417. I was more surprised to see that the loser bid $361.

No shame in overpaying...

To get a closer, especially when you're light on saves... worth every dollar.

Looks like Gotay will be a strong 4 category 2B, a very weak position. I paid 127 for Gotay and am very happy to get him, next bid was 93.

Every team has their own story, strenghths and weaknesses. If a player plugs a hole, that player becomes a "must have" and you just can't take a chance you won't get him.

Reuben Droughns single handedly made many a winning season last year. Didn't matter what you paid in FAAB, he won the money.

In some respects this only verifies that no trading in NFBC is a good thing. I could certainly see some eyebrows raised over what I speculate would be managers fillings holes with trades.

Am I reading this right? Mudcats spent 988 on 2 players this week! Only 12 moves for the rest of the year good luck!

As for Droughns...

The NFFC overall winner picked up Droughns from the FA list...

The NY Auction League winner did the same...

That's just 2 that I know of, I'm sure there are lots more.

4 of the 32 playoff teams had Droughns, including the overall winner.

1. Teenage Wasteland

28. Dubya is for Winning

29. Big MO

32. Poop in the Closet

Looks like you were the only one who REALLY benefitted from Droughns, Gordon. At least in the main event...

Sorry, bjoak. One more football point, then I'm done:

Droughns's playoff production

Week 14 - 5.2 points

Week 15 - 5.1 points

Week 16 - 31.1 points

Of the 4 playoff teams with Droughns, only Gordon started him in Week 16. He would have won without him, but this more than sealed the deal.

GG - Thanks for the analysis:

Excluding the Mudkittens picks ($182 remaining)

Jeff DaVanon was picked up in six leagues and received at least two bids in each.

Omega’s was the highest ($351) but other bids included $229, 172,124,120 & 117.

DaVanon’s average purchase price was $165 trailing only $196 for Willy Taveras, who was available in five leagues. A $361 bid lost on Taveras.

While the DaVanon price looks high – 7 teams bid over 10% of their budget on him – it just happened that his league wasn’t where another large bid was placed.

We all have are own methods on FAAB usage, but if you want a guy bid HIGH.
