what's the verdict? Do we start him this week for the 2 start week, even though he'll be in STL and CINCY?

One of the hottest pitchers in baseball making 2 starts, one against the team that far and away strikes out more than any other in baseball. Whatchu want? Is this even a serious question?

Yeah, but I'd do the same thing again, under the same circumstances. Good players who are hot, you play. A team that strikes out a lot, you pitch against. Anyone who loses regularly, you definitely pitch against. Why wouldn't you? Do you sit Pedro Martinez because he's in Cincy? I mean I have no idea, maybe you took starters with the first eight picks of the draft and you have options. Then, it's a decision. Even with my 3.40 team ERA, I'm not that fortunate. I'm not going to take out my hottest starter because he's playing against a losing team that strikes out a lot. That doesn't make sense and it's not a legitimate concern, even when it doesn't go your way in the end.
Maybe he'll suck in both sarts this week and you fear you have the Loaiza of old. Then, you worry. See, I'm not sure what you expected out of him. My math told me he needed to get me a 4.00-4.25 ERA. That seemed reasonable. I can afford to wait and see while he's pitching way above my projections. If you have the pitching that is that much better than him on a 2 start week--then congrats. Do what you want because you'll win the pitching cats anyway.
Also, all of you who write "LOL, LOL, LOL," if you're not actually laughing out loud, quit writing it, huh? I mean I've laughed out loud at plenty of stuff on these boards, but if you're laughing out loud at predictions for a pitching start, there's something wrong with you. I mean hit a comedy club or go drinking with friends or turn on Comedy Central or something (not when Wanda Sykes is on). It really gets much better than this.

Bjoak is right. As much as the name "Esteban Loaiza" causes extreme consternation every time I, as an owner, click his name into the starting line-up, as good as he's been, he is a no-brainer start in a 15 team mixed league with two non-Coors starts, even if they are a little tough. Here's hoping he's a little sharper later this week against a better lineup. Ugh.
Now why the hell does KRod hit the dl half an hour after weekly lineups need be set? That's just cruel.

No, I really was laughing out loud as I was watching the game, and that includes laughing at myself for starting him cause I was so desperate for any strikeouts. I was also lol that you thought it was a no brainer to start a guy in a sandbox against a team that hits a lot of homers to go along with all the K's, and now has to face one of the toughest offenses in the league with the Cards. Last time I checked, ERA and WHIP were also categories we use, and not just K's. I'm bracing myself for the further hit I'm going to take on those two categories in his next start, and I'm still lol!

One guy drafted Sheets in the 1st round. LOLHey, forget you because time's going to tell on that one. Besides, I've had just about the best pitching in the NFBC without him over the last month. That also goes for the start Loaiza had on Monday (when my ERA for the day was 3.4). There's no problem with my overall evaluation of pitching.

179th, thank you very much.
I know you mean it as an insult, but moving up 110 spots in a month was fine with me, no matter where I started and ended. I do it again this month and I'll be the one laughing. Not out the other side of my face, though--just the regular side.
