Lets add:

Pitching Chumps!

Doug Davis - era 6.387 - whip 1.871

Felix Hernandez - era 5.063 - whip 1.613

Now wonder my era is above 5 and whip above 1.5

Good Question, because this actually crosses over to my thoughts on the play for speed in this years drafts. A homerun contributes to 4 of the 5 categories we use, but a stolen base contributes to only 1 category (unless he steals home) makes you think a bit doesn't it.

I think SB helps in more than one category. You can't steal first, so SB can help BA as well. Some SB elite do not have high BA, but the same can be said for some big HR hitters. Also SB puts you in scoring position, so runs scored should be higher for these players, too.

SB elite helps out then in two categories (SB and R) with good potential for help in AVG.

HR elite helps out in three (HR, RBI, R) with potential to help AVG.

I would like to add A. Ramirez to the early season chump list with a cool .200 BA and J. Reed (certainly not an early round pick, but thought he would be a good source of SB, but that is hard given a .188 BA and a .247 OBP).
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Cindy you are a pioneer- the first to frame up that conclusion in their head- and as one of these guys getting beat down in Tampa. Give it up and just give these guys credit where credit is deserved- no free lunch in this thing. Only way you get to the top is to earn it.

16th rd is not a bad spot. Lot of risk washed out at that point. By then you prob had your 1b and 3b already so his usual 20-80-.295 in abbrev ab's as a CI/util would be pretty nice. He'll be "back" ;)

I don't know how the hell Fandango is still treading water in NY1. With DLee, Alou, Patterson, Contreras, and Cantu on the DL, he's still in the top 3rd (5th pl.). Thats an amazing feat....

The Derrek Lee/Friday DL rule made it all possible :D [/QUOTE]I'm bringing this rule back in 2007 just to keep hearing you complain about it! :D

There were over 150 player moves last Friday, so obviously a few teams had some mid-week injuries that they were able to take care of. I'm not saying the rule is perfect, but each week there seems to be 2-3 guys put on the DL on Tuesday or Wednesday.

And I heard there was a column posted yesterday that advised people to sit Brett Tomko early in the week and start a DL pitcher so that you could get Tomko's start later in the week, thus avoiding his start last night at Colorado. It's a rare case when you can do that, but I guess it's possible. Oh, Tomko looked pretty damn good last night and got the win, so I guess even that strategy doesn't always work. ;)
