Luck!

Post by Edwards Kings » Tue Aug 15, 2006 12:59 am

One of my friends on the board is famous (infamous?) for his opinion that chance favors the prepared. I agree, by the way.

But man am I having bad luck. I am stuck in the middle and keep waffling around a few places because I cannot bust a move. Last night is an example of why I cannot. I had both sides of the pitching duel last night where the air is thin, the balls are moist, and the cigars must burn slow.

Between Fancis and Vargas, I was glad to get 13.2 IP, 11 H, 1 BB, 10 K, 3 ER, 1.976 ERA and a 0.878. But I need Wins...I cannot seem to get support (bats or bullpen) to get the wins. For the year, I am only winning 39% of the GS when I had projected about 47%. Oh, well, I guess I will just have to take my K's, WHIP, and ERA for the game and be satisfied...

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I understand your pain Wayne. I have used 17 starting pithers and had 155 starts between them. They have provided 47 wins for a percentage of 30.3%.
