Few big-name injuries in 2006

Looking at the NFBC average draft report, I realized that only two Top 40 players -- Derrek Lee and Gary Sheffield -- missed significant playing time due to injury. Last year, eight of the Top 40 players (Schmidt, Rolen, Thome, Nomar, Sheets, Gagne, Schilling and Bonds) missed at least 30% of the year. 2004 also saw eight Top 40 injuries: Prior, Nomar, Magglio, K Wood, Halladay, Sexson, P Wilson and Wagner.
So, catastrophic injuries had less effect on this year's NFBC than the first two. I thought this was interesting, so I figured I'd share with my fellow stat-heads.
