Phillies agreed to terms with second baseman Chase Utley on a seven-year, $85 million contract.

Now will Utley's performance be affected? I say he folds up like a tent now that he has his money.

According to the wire reports concerning this signing, Chase Utley in 2006 became the 15th player in major league history to hit .300 and record 200 hits, 30 home runs, 100 RBI, 40 doubles and 130 runs in one season.

He also leads all major league second basemen over the past two seasons in homers (57), RBI (197), hits (350) and runs (217).

He should be a first-round NFBC pick in every single league. If you don't believe me, just ask "Chase's Chicks." :D

If I cannot get him, I am pretty much ditching 2B until at least the late teen rounds.

I hear what you are saying about that player and would like to lob a few thoughts back at you. I do not disagree at all, but if my draft is able to stay scripted that long, I may be targeting other fish. Delete a few messages and I will respond in more detail.

Sorry didn't know my mail box was full. Never happened before. There are quite a few players I like at that point in the draft and those picks are very crowded. I'm gaurenteed not to get all of them. Rounds 7 through 12 are loaded with quality players that may not be sure things, but I'd like to take a chance on and feel very good about them.

I believe he's worthy of a 4th pick. I would much rather have Utley at the horrid 2nd base position than Soriano and his likely 30/30 in the outfield.....although Sori will probably go higher in 90% of drafts.

Just a thought.
