All,

Since we are almsot exactly half way through the season, it seemes like a perfect time for us all to reflect on what has gone well, not so well, and down right bad. So here are my thoughts on my teams - let's hear from others as well!!!

My team midseason scorecard:

Main Event Team: 64 pts, 11th place (ugly)

$1250 Auction Team: 88.5 pts, 5th place (ok)

$250 Serpentine Satellite: 133 pts, 1st place (v. good)

$250 Auction Satellite: 110.5 pts, 1st place (would normally be good but everyone has about 100 pts there...)

Thoughts on each team:

Main Event Team: With a start (from the 3rd spot) of: Pujols, Abreu, Wells, Ryan, and Matsui, we thought we were going to be well positioned. Well, Pujols is barely doing ok, Abreu, Wells, and Matsui are doing terribly. Ryan of course is gone for the season. Could we have done anything different? The only real miss we could find was not taking Morneau instead of Wells, but Wells showed better power/speed, and had a better overall line up. We did get it right with Beckett, Phillips, Rowand, Wang, Papelbon, amid others, but the weight of Crede, Cantu, Glaus, Abreu, etc.. just has sunk the team. The large number of injuries to the team in the first month killed us as we had to drop key guys that would have become stars. Then we mismanaged the crap out of the team, constantly chasing for saves (oh and missing out on Buck for catcher for 6 fab - we bid 3 didn't do us any good)

Take-aways for next year:

1) If your top 10 fail, not much you can do.

2) Dont stint on FAAB when you need help in a position

3) Chasing is ugly. just like in Dating!!!

$1250 NY Auction Team: This team is doing better, but loss of Giambi, and under performance of McCann (who was very expensive) has really hurt.

Take-aways for next year:

1) Never spend too much on catchers

2) Stop over managing pitchers (like sitting bedard against NY last week)

3) Spend auction money when you really like a player. I had lackey and haren as 'must haves' this year. Fandango outbid me and is enjoying the rewards

Good luck to all in the 2nd half. May your players stay healthy!

All I know is that everyone who has Jose Reyes...geez!

If he finished the year with his current 43 or so steals...I doubt there would be any problem...let alone having that before the All-Star break! How long has it been since the 100 SB plateau was topped? (Vince? Ricky?)

We have alot of the same players but my team seems to be doing a little better in league play. i am at 89 points tied for 4th. I had pick one and my 1st five were albert,a.ramirez, atkins, thome and piere.Atkins has been my miss so far but seems to be picking it up. pitching is killing my team as i cant get any wins. Harden, willis, mitre, milwood, wang, guthrie, sampson.pedro i hope can come back strong for so wins. I also hit with Phillips,Rowand, papelbon, hart, peralta. my big miss so far has been lugo in the 6th round. i also think catching is a wait and see until the end unless you can get one of the 5.

Yes, we do have a pretty good number of the same players: Rowand, Phillips, Pujolis, Wang, Papelbon. You have not only a better top five (even Atkins has more HR than wells+abreu), you probably managed your team better than we did. For example, we saw Glaus was out for 2 days with a foot injury so we bench him. He comes back that week with 2hr, 7rbis. Oh well

Good luck!!! I hope our joint players stay hot. I think Wang will help in the wins atleast
