There are 30 teams in MLB, offensively Estrada is one of the top 30 catchers in the league. I'd say around 15ish. Yet he is about to be non-tendered and it seems that no-one wants him. Why? Is his defense extremely poor?

I have heard whispers that he is absolutely terrible in the clubhouse. I have met him twice kind of comes across to me as the Francis "Psycho" Sawyer type from Stripes- you touch my stuff I will kill you.
I know the ultimate players manager Bobby Cox could not handle him so that should tell you something.

That is the only other possibilty. I had never heard his "D" was bad, so it may just be that he is a D-bag.

Estrada's defense is bad, his handling of pitchers is bad, and he's a big negative in the clubhouse, witness his open-dugout physical confrontation(s) with the Brewers last year.
His bat is above average for a catcher. So you can see how there's a disconnect between how we fantasy guys see his value, and how MLB sees his value.
