I'm participating in a 5 team, AL East, keeper league. Extra catergories are OPS and holds. Unfortunately, I pulled the 4th draft position. Assuming Arod, Crawford, and Papi go 1-2-3, who do you take at 4 and why?
I've never played in a league with holds and OPS. To me, holds would logically devalue starters a bit and OPS would favor sluggers that can take a walk. Thoughts?
Thanks!

I think Upton is the next logical choice IMO. Although there are 2 other quality 2B in the AL East (Cano and Roberts).

Upton could go before big pappy, your in good shape with either one of them.

What happens if your guy is traded/leaves via free agancy?

might depend on the rosters you carry and the rules if someone leaves the AL East. If you lose guys once they leave the AL East, you could consider Jeter. He will probably be on the Yankees for his entire career and he is much better than all the other SS in the division. Upton will only be an OF after this year, which hurts his value a bit. Also, he doesn't hold the edge over Roberts, Hill and Pedoia and Cano that Jeter holds at his position.
Because the guy who picks 5th is unlikely to take two 2B and can't take all three, I would consider taking Jeter and then the best 2B left in round two. Even though I like Roberts better than Cano, I think you have to take Cano because Roberts may not be in the division all year or in future years.
In round 3, if any of the top young OF are still there....Rios or Markakis, I would go there.
OR!!!! I'll throw this out there......whoever takes Papelbon or Rivera automatically finishes in the top two in your saves category this year(assuming it's not a points league). Balt has no closer, TB has a crappy one, Tor has a hurt one.
I would be interested in knowing the rosters and keepers for such a league.....sounds like a different idea.

On the flip side, Bos and NYY sign so many big names each year (except this year - was the Yanks big acquisition really LaTroy Hawkins?!)that there'll always be new talent in the re-drafts.
