Kosuke Fukudome said Wednesday that he's hoping to steal 15-20 bases this season.

Looking more and more like a person to target on draft day. The questions is...what round?

What happened to all that research Gekko?

One GM said he should "hit about .300 with 15-20 hrs and nab 30 steals" 2 1/2 MONTHS AGO. Peter Gammons article.

The fact that he's coming out now and saying "15-20 stolen bases" is possible, isn't exactly a shocker and shouldn't raise his value. That was his value.

I don't think he's going to come out and steal 30 bases, my point is that he's known as a very good baserunner with some speed and in the U.S. that usually translates to some steals, so if he comes out and says I'm gonna steal some bases, that shouldn't raise his value from an 11th or 12th rounder to a "7th rounder".

I expect .290-15-80-100 runs (great on-base guy sitting in front of Aramis/D-Lee - and throw in "15-20 stolen bases". I got him in the 11th round in my draft, still risky because it's difficult to translate talent/numbers from Japan, but he's not bad for my 4th outfielder.

The fact the Cubs were willing to throw $48 million at him for 4 years without seeing him in a major league uniform speaks volumes especially considering they were targeting him and nobody else for that outfield spot.

I doubt anybody takes him less than 8th round.
