Simple question...
Put aside the fact that you own any of these guys anywhere...
Both players are on crap teams...
But of the 2 who will put up better numbers this season, Cust or Butler ???

I like them both but Cust can hurt your bavg where Butler will hit 300.Plus their is a reason Butler goes around the 11th to 14th round and Cust goes anywhere from the 17th to the 20th round. If it was a home run pool i would take Cust , he's blasting at least 30 this year.

After watching the first game... Butler. Cust sucks, and his team really sucks. He might hit the 30 HR that Eddie predicts, but if he does he will end the season with 30 H, 30 R, and 30 RBI.

I know on paper the A's look bad...but humans are always difficult to predict. Stars sometimes come out of nowhere once given a chance in the Big Show!
They all have pride, and I'd guess a few A's and Giants and Royals will be roster worthy within a month.
They did score 5 on the Wolrd Champs...and almost won. Not bad for such a crappy team!

The Royals aren't as bad as you think. I'd wager the over on their Vegas line for wins.

Jackstaw , would you believe Cust had a 400 OPS last year.He walks a ton and in real baseball that means something. If he gets that ball in the air it's gone.

Only one game, but Cust was 0-4 with 4 K's wasn't he? I am not going on the reverse Tuffy mentality, but I would take BA Butler myself.

Its like asking if you'd rather have Adam Dunn over Carlos Lee. 40-50 points of batting average for a few more homers, give me the average and consistency.

~Lance [/QUOTE]I'll give you that, Lance. There just didn't look to be any leadership on the team at all. Who knows, Cust may be the guy. Rob and Kevin on XM broke it down pretty good this afternoon. They had ample opportunity to put a hurting on Dice-K in the beginning, but never made anything of it. They blamed it on lack of experience and I agree.
But it is just game 1 of the marathon, I know

I agree with the walks, but you gotta have other people in the line-up that are a threat to make those walks add up to something. I'm not knocking Cust as much as I am knocking the A's. Maybe when Chavez makes it back, that will help Cust out a little. Or as Lance was saying, whenever one of the young guys shows his pride and stands up, that may help them too.
Don't worry, once Sunday rolls around I will focus on beating up on teams in my part of the country!
Go Braves!
