U must have missed it. Liriano headed to minors. I'd consider him in the 12th. Seriously.

It's not surprising. Hey, he's improved as the spring has progressed and that's a good sign. A better sign will be when he breaks out that slider, which he's been afraid to do.
We both have a vested interest, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Two games in the minors, then back up. By July, he will probably be your favorite pitcher in fantasy baseball.

I hope so. He sits behind Johan and C Young on one of my staffs. Love him as a #3.
But until he busts out that slider without fear of his arm falling off, I will have mild trepidation.

before he got hurt, he was a groundball pitcher. this spring training he is a flyball pitcher. something is wrong. maybe it's the slider. maybe his arm hurts when he throws it. going by past experience, liriano is not the most truthful person when speaking with management. either way, liriano will be a disappointment this year.

I just hope he doesn't turn into anothe Mark Prior...with that small sample size of excellence, expected to be repeated.

[/QUOTE]I think he's a young guy coming off major surgery. He should probably give Smoltz a call. I know that it took Smoltz a while to have confidence to throw that slider. I don't think he's still hurt, I just think he's afraid to go to his bread and butter. Hopefully a couple starts in AAA will help him overcome that fear.

Shwan [the truth] Childs , you tell them all Shwan, im with you top 5 next year.I think he will hold his own this year but his second half will be the half he dominates. The slider will take a little time but when it comes, BAM.

You guys have to show some patience with Liriano. First he is coming off major surgery, second he was late getting to spring training, and last but probably most important is that to the Twins he is now considered the "franchise". The Twins are ultra conservative with their pitchers in general but with a guy like this they are extra careful. The problem they have now is that their AAA team is in Rochester and it is cold there so Liriano who dislikes the cold to begin with may end up holding back and not throwing as hard as he can. He has already said that if he does not make the team he would prefer to stay in Florida. If you let him stay and pitch in Florida then he is facing single A hitters and it would be like a man amongst boys. The better the Twins staff looks, the longer he stays in the minors. I have seen Liriano pitch since the Twins acquired him and he was dominant in 2006 for about 1/2 a season but I think everyone needs to give him more time to develop and gain experience in the majors. I am not saying he will not be a star, but he has not pitched enough yet to get the HOF spot set just yet. I am constantly amazed at how players today are proclaimed the next Cy Young or Hank Aaron after a brief flash of greatness. Do you guys remember why Liriano was traded from the Giants to Minnesota? Because he was out all year the year before due to an arm injury............

THE WORST TRADE IN BASEBALL HISTORY.
Liraino , jOE Nathan, and Boof Boonser for
AJ Pierzynski.
The Wild KingDom IS GOING FOR A THREE PEAT , so get out of my way.Altough Shawn did pony up 26 dollars for Liriano.I did draft Liriano in my main event, the key to my team.

THE WORST OWNERSHIP DECISION IN BASEBALL HISTORY. Extending GM Brian Sabean's contract 2 more years after this trade and countless other dumb moves - spending exorbitant amounts of money of zito, durham, winn, dave roberts, and pretty soon, aaron rowand, bringing back aurilia, signing klesko, trading accardo for hillenbrand are what come to mind at the moment..oh yeah, giving that huge deal to benitez wasn't too bright either. and i haven't even mentioned how he let bonds do whatever he wanted and basically run the clubhouse

He should be fired.
This is one of the top 5 markets in the USA...and he keeps feeding us **** like you mentioned.
The Giants have one of the best ballparks in MLB...and a bunch of cheap minor leaguers and overpaid has-beens or never were's. (Other than Cain and Lincecum)
At least get ONE hitter the area can rally behind. ROWAND??? Geez...what a fool.
When a teams entire draw for the season are two starting pitchers...you are guaranteeing NO DRAWING CARD for the three games the other pitchers start. That's why a talented hitter with some upside/youth/charisma can work wonders...you get to see that guy play EVERY GAME!

Just like the UFC...if a guy FIGHTS HARD and has character and style...yet loses half the time...he can still be a beloved fighter to watch fight, and has a following.
There are other fighters who have no style nor fighting spirit...they just focus on a boring style of winning.
They can beat the weaker fighters, and build a nice win/loss record...but they are so boring to watch that the crowd will booo them...even when they win.
They will never beat the best fighters...they lack the spirit of a true FIGHTER.
The same thing to a degree applies to baseball.
Give me an interesting team that on a good run...can surprise any team. Give me a young team with unknown potential (like the A's hitters to a degree) over known below-average players that I KNOW suck.
Give me a unknown team worth rooting for...even if they lose...as opposed to a team that wins more...but is so boring and with such a limited/poor potential...that they don't validate paying to see them play.

i agree w/ the earlier coments about sabean, (man that was a stupid trade for pierzinski!) but the decision to keep bonds was all magowan's...can't blame that on sabean.
