Private Auction Keeper Help

Post by Tax Man » Tue Apr 01, 2008 10:38 am

so i figured id throw this out and see what your opinons are.

Im in a 16 team auction - but we use $400 cap (dont ask) - and have to keep 4 and buy 26 players at the auction. 15 H 10 P 5 reserves.

we have 4 keepers which are at last years cost plus $5.

Thru some dump trades last year and another where I dealt away a cheap Lincecum, 3 of my keepers are $19 Hanley, $15 B Phillips and $49 Rollins. Not a bad MI. Those are the $ values this year after tacking on $5 to last year.

I cant decide on my 4th. They will all be $10 this year (FA in my league have salaries of $5, you are allowed 2 per week, first come first serve). So i picked up these guys last year for $5.

Who should i keep?

Corpas

McGowan

Cueto

obviously closers are going to cost more at the draft - in this league about $18-$25. Pitchers like McGowan and Cueto go for about $8-$15.

Figured i would keep Corpas, because it would save me $ for the auction - but im having a hard time giving up Cueto and letting him be bid on by 15 other teams.

Any suggestions?

If closers go a lot you have to keep Corpas.

But McGowen isnt that far behind, ild pay 15 to 20 for him.So those two are close, Cueto is more like 10 to 14 but it is a keeper league.Still McGowen would be my choice because of the keeper league.Just bye Corpas in the draft.

thanks - your analysis pretty much matches mine. plus i HATE keeping closers. rather go buy cheaper closers and pickups.

thanks
