is Joe Borowski????
Seriously, I knew he was bad, but actually WATCHING him pitch this evening made me wanna puke! I can guarantee this tool will NEVER find his way on another team of mine!
It is amazing what you can pick up when you actually WATCH the games!

It is amazing what you can pick up when you actually WATCH the games! When he keeps the ball down he's a solid pitcher. He'll come around. Right now he's just grooving the ball in there belt high - not a good idea to Manny Ramirez.

He did not however deserve to lose that game as it should have been tied going to the bottom of the 9th. Why David Delucci was playing with his ass touching the left field wall with Ortiz up is beyond me? A routine fly to left allowed Manny to bat and hit the game winner. Not justifying how bad Joe really is right now, but it shouldn't have been that bad.

May I add I may just be bitter that I could have had Sherrill and his 6 saves 3 rounds later or Wood 6 rounds later, ugh.

The safest time to pitch Bowwow is in the 10th inning of a 9 inning game !

He can only pitch well as the underdog. He needs to go to the mound getting booed by his own fans with opposing batters licking their chops ... that's when he pitches well.

Maybe a better bet would be who gets more saves, Borowski or Jones.

~Lance [/QUOTE]I aree but it is not necessarily a novel idea, I don't think. He gave up a lot of homeruns in the minors, he's playing in the great American small park, flyball pitcher. These things don't mix well. It is more a question of whether he is so good he can absorb the homeruns, like a Cole Hamels. I think he will definitely hit a rough patch as the league adjusts to him.

It is amazing what you can pick up when you actually WATCH the games! CLEVELAND (AP) -Indians closer Joe Borowski was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, a day after blowing a save and giving up a two-run homer in the ninth inning to Boston's Manny Ramirez in a 6-4 loss to the Red Sox.
The club said Borowski, who led the AL with 45 saves last season, has a strained triceps. He had been puzzled and frustrated by a significant loss in his velocity.
The club recalled right-hander Tom Mastny from Triple-A Buffalo.
With Borowski out, Indians manager Eric Wedge likely will turn to Rafael Betancourt as his new closer. Betancourt was one of baseball's top set-up men last season. He had three saves last season and has 12 career saves.

Almost every pitcher goes through a period of adjustment when he comes up. I think allowing homers will be part of Cueto's adjustment if not his overall MO. The league adjusted to Hamels during his rookie year when he posted an ERA up over 4. I was just talking about his liklihood to give up homers, which he clearly gives up a lot and succeeds despite them.

Just from watching him closely (while intensely rooting against him)

...I saw TWO speeds (not 3 or more)...it seemed it was either 86 or 95 mph.
I also noted that it looked like every pitch was close to the sweet spot of the bat swing.
Sure...he's got control...fine.
But if he keeps playing with fire...he's gonna get burned. (Cueto)
I noted he needed to mix in more "junk" pitches.
I decided to look up his pitches to strike ratio and it was 189 K in 270 P.
That's 70% strikes.
Just seems too high to me.
