Great Night!

Post by Edwards Kings » Thu May 08, 2008 1:04 am

Oh, how I love times like this in Fantasy Baseball! Let’s see….

Penny has his worst game in something like 236 career starts as Joe “Rocket-Scientist” leaves him out for 110+ pitches when he is getting rocked. Ten earned runs in 4.2 IP. What did Penny do to Joe? Sleep with his wife? Make fun of the long lasting value of hair plugs?

Buerle gets rocked against a team that he has won 20 games in 30 career starts with a 3.69 ERA. Buerle has 2 ER through 5, but loses it, the manager leaves him out there, and ends with 7 ER in 5.2 IP. Another BRILLANT managerial mind.

Conor Jackson and Victorino go literally head-to-head and my hottest hitter this side of Utley probably has a concussion and is “day-to-day”. He can join Hudson on the bench for the Diamondbacks. You remember him? He used to play second base from time-to-time for the same team until he went “day-to-day” with a hammie. Maybe they can send a postcard to Blalock. Of course, Jackson will probably be using crayon as I doubt the doctors will let a head injury play with anything as sharp as a pen.

Gaudin gets sent to the bullpen. Makes sense. He has only been pitching with a 3.75 ERA and a 1.194 WHIP with 26 K’s in 36 IP. I mean, those kinds of stats are run of the mill in MLB, aren’t they?

Scott Baker goes on the DL with a hammie. At least he is not “day-to-day”, but now my deep ten SP staff is down to eight. Makes it easier to tell who is going to start next week!

Last night was also a prime evening for one of baseballs premier hitting prospects. Clement added another 0-3 night and is now 0-9 for the week with five strikeouts. Livin’ large!

Time to curl up in my “Hello Kitty” jammies, grab the bottle of Knob Creek, and watch “Bang the Drum Slowly” on TV . Somebody wake me up in time for the Homerun Derby at the All-Star break.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I have both Penny and Kuroda on my SUPER team so I watched the last 2 games closely.

Regarding Torre, Kuroda lasted 2+ on Tuesday night followed by Kou for a few innings. Torre needed a QS from Penny and after winning the 1st 2 of 3 from the Mets he probably figured he had money in the bank and didn't want to tax his bullpen. Penny could have done a little better, how about we blame him.

Thanks and have a nice day.

I can relate to your misery.

In addition to Penny who I also have, I was fortunate enough to have Jered Waever for his 8 earned runs in 3 1/3 against that offensive juggernaut known as the Kansas City Royals.

I also had the offensive prospect that was the hot pick-up prior to Clement (Adam Lind) get sent back to the minors yesterday. More misinformation from the Toronto GM who claimed he had a clear path to playing time now that Frank Thomas was released. Note: he had not played in 3 days.

I guess somehow in an odd way, this move actually helped me since he was 1-19 since his call up.

Of course I also had Jon Lieber, but was lucky enough to at least have him on my bench. 1 right move for the day at least brightens things up a bit.

Hiroki Kuroda was dreadful on Tuesday night, much worse than his ugly stat line suggests. His short outing forced Joe Torre's hand in regards to sticking with a struggling Brad Penny for longer than he otherwise would have.

I can't match your pitching misery, but I have you beat hands down in hitting. My RBI total to date for week 6 = 1, and all my hitters are healthy. LMAO

I had the most dreadful week I've ever endured last week. It was groundhog day, everyday. 6-45 2 runs 1 rbi, day after day after day.

Followed that up with a 1-16 start the next day. Eight guys are hitting between .285-.310. Came sooooo close to benching GA this week...

I was minding my own business, flipping between 2-3 in my league, top 80ish overall. BAMMMMM. The week from hell. I don't think it's good when you finish a week 390 out of 390.

I'll take your 2 bad days and raise you with 7 ATTROCIOUS days.

Wow I had a rough last Saturday. King Felix finally had a bad start against the Yankees, 7 earned runs and Maholm (decided to start him) gave up 6 runs...blowing up the ERA...this just after we had entered the top 90 overall.

This post makes me feel better though! still shocked b penny gave up 10 earned runs .

I know I am not alone and that is why I posted. Kind of a cyperspace group therapy session. Man, these cheese doodles are stale.

By the way...I also started Myers (I have added a 1/2 a run in ERA this week) and have Broussard.

Did you see Cowboy Joe's thread "so long cruel world" ?? If you think you're having a rough week, reading his post might be just the therapy you need!
