The latest news seems to have CoCo being traded to KC for a solid, cheap middle reliever R Ramirez. This begs two questions:

1) What is KC doing? A small market team trading cheap middle relief guy with good stuff and results for overpriced veterans with questionable talents (Nunez and Raqmirez for Jacobs and Crisp)

2) Where does the Cereal Man go this year in NFBC draft? In 2005, as a 25 year old he went 299 16 69 15 sbs and 86 runs for Cleve. When he was traded to Boston, he baceame a fashionable, skyrocketing choice to become a 5 tool fantasy stud. In 06 he was drafted pretty high and flopped.

He also had middlin results in 07 and somewhat better in part time role in 08. Crisp was very good in playoffs and even looked cocky at the plate. Now he seemingly will get a full time role in KC.

With a full time role, and health, 25 SB seem a lock. But can he keep his avg at the 280 he hit this year or is he a 260 guy? Is he the power guy he hinted at in 05 and in playoffs or is he a punchless #7 hitter with some speed? Where does he bat in that lineup?

Whether you like it or not, the economy is going to be everywhere. I know you don't want it on the mb's and that's fine, if I had known it was going to balloon to the proportions it did, I would have started it on the non-baseball subject. Apologies.

To answer one of your questions the economy comes into play again . While other teams are dumping salary or trying to trade higher priced players to relieve owners of a big payroll, the Royals do not seem to have been affected by the economy, say, as much as the Astros.

The answer to your last question may not be answered till opening day since the Royals have a log jam in the OF, 1B, and DH.

My opinion is that if KC keeps DeJesus, Crisp starts out being a bottom of the lineup guy, much like Gathright was, only with a little more pop and a lot less speed.

He seemed to constantly be nagged by injuries, even as a part timer for the Sox. I think we've seen his best year. He'll probably fall to someone that is desperate for speed in a lot of drafts.

One more thing, besides Guillen most of the Royals are more doubles type hitters (Teahen, Butler, Gordon, Aviles). That is the main reason they liked the idea of getting Jacobs.

My understanding is that Guillen is done as a Royal and that they WILL trade him. I also get the feeling that they would move Dejesus to 3 spot. It also seems that Crisp is a bit more of a lead off guy then DeJesus.

My guess is that the latter scenario is true, then Crisp ends up batting 1st and he goes in rds 10-13. If he is heading for Gathright land, then he is moe of a 15-17th rounder(4th or 5th OF)

Furcal could change them to contenders in the Central, but I don't think he'll sign with an AL team unless someone backs up the Brinks truck for him.

As an everyday player, Crisp's value would go up and I am guessing would be the lead-off man though DeJesus has the much better OBP. Even with a good spring and I bet he rarely cracks the first fifteen rounds.

Teahan is the odd man out in KC.
