Josh Hamilton's health status will obviously play a significant role on draft day. I think Cubbies Alfonso Soriano and Aramis Ramirez will continue to be top 45 selections if health is on their side come the month of March.

Nice power spike on Mauer in '09 as in twice any other year, including 2006. Still have trouble with catchers not named Piazza in the first.

Pitchers in the first round, especially thin ones with wicked stressful motion and potential long-term contract makes Lincecum a bit of a stretch to me. The guy with the best overall pitching staff this year (1st in WHIP and K's, 6th in ERA and 7th in WHIP) was Dave Clum and he didn't pick a pitcher until the 8th round (104th in Saves...what the heck is your problem Dave :D ), so I just don't see the rush.

Reyes and the double Hammies will keep me away.

So far, I like the third round (Bourn stretch accepted) so far better than any of the other rounds as far as value without too much unnessary risk.

Sizemore in the mid-2nd will be 2010's Carl Crawford.

Werth is getting his due finally. I was not so high on him this year, but he has made me a believer.

sizemore concerns me with his ba. plus i wonder if next year they just move him down to the 3 hole and he doesn't run as much.

Size was rebounding in avg even while hurt in 2d half. I dont think you draft him expecting 300...he is a 27-275 guy right? My question is why did he stop running?

It will be interesting come March; I didn't expect Hamilton to be there at 44; If I was picking 14th next March and ended up with Wright, Reyes and Josh; I will be smiling...:)

drafting in chicago there are a few things i like about a soriano = 1) the cubs have him signed at about 30 mill a year till 2014 when he will be 45 years old 2) that means every year he will be drafted in top 3 rounds by someone looking for him to run, hit homers and bat .285 + stay healthy for a whole year. i think sizemore bats 3rd for sure. choo batted 3,4,5,6th and stole 20. i think sizemore is faster than choo- but he wasn't in 2009 and his legs were not hurt so he might steal 10 because he got slow quick. However, it won't be because he bats 3rd. soriano should bat 9th but probably will bat 6th next year when he plays for the cubbies.

i agree on the 27 .275 point. maybe even lower ba. he'll put up solid runs, rbis and hr's. but ba and sb's will be a tossup. not sure i want to draft him top 30 based on that*

*have drafted b phillips 2 years in a row in the 2nd so what do I know?

Phillips didnt give you second rd numbers? If you lost it wasnt because of his performance. 20-20 from your 2b with almost 100 rbi?

Take away the position and he is at best late third round to me. Second base gives you consideration for maybe earlier in the third round. I could have gone Crawford, Holliday, Morneau, Fielder, Roberts, Bay...hindsight I know, but I still think I picked him a round early.

Maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling that Hamilton is addicted to addictions.

Going crayy with baseball, then to drugs and alcohol, then to God, back to baseball and off the wagon to where he is at now.

He may keep bouncing around these items or find new ones. If it is baseball for six months again, you have a winner, if not, you have 2009.

Through it all, he has remained injury prone. I think that is what scares me the most.

8 Hour rule.

Who wants to make two picks for Dak?

He has Crawford and Tulowitzki.

If I were picking for Dak, I would take at 3-15 K. Morales-1B. At 4-1 would take A.Lind-OF.

Josh Hamilton might be on an on line team for me. Late third round at the earliest. But not the main unless he has a great spring.

H2H, the position flexibility of 2b/OF will really help as well in 2010 with the move to Friday Hitter LineUp changes. ;)

I'll continue da position flex by selecting Pablo Sandoval (1b/3b). Maybe he reaches 10 games @ CATCHer next year with da pending free agency of Bengie Molina.
