Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

wow- seems to be much confidence that furcal 1) is healthy 2) will steal 35 bases 3) will bat 1st 4) will hit some homers. big bounce back year could be in order.

He will be a bounce back candidate and will not disappoint even as a 5th rounder.

you are probably right. couple of things about playing with pierre- if you bat second- you take a lot of pitches waiting for pierre to steal (60%) or get thrown out (40%). if you bat 1st - you get 1 pitch to try and steal- because pierre is swinging at it. i am amazed the talk is getting rid of furcal- they should get rid of pierre.

Kazmir vs Hamels what do you guys think? I took Hamels for the wins but Kazmir was right behind him for me.

Kazmir vs. Hamels ..... Me personally I like them both a whole lot. Flip a coin. But it seemed to me that Kazmir really figured it out in the 2nd half of the season. Hitters couldn't touch him and he wasn't throwing 110 pitches by the 3rd inning like he was in the 1st half. I think Hamels is only going to get better---just keep that change up down. Yea they are both an i jury risk and its difficult to predict those wins but give me either one ( or both ) and I will be extremely happy.

I too have them about even. Shouldn't the Rays finally have a better team this year. On paper anyway they look like they could make a leap. Somehow it never seems to materialize though. I'll bet GLY has an opinion on this.

Probably is, but even in an off year he had solid numbers. Again, practice to get a feel for how a 15 team serpentine goes as I have only done auctions for the last 18 years, while doing I think maybe 3 serpentine's in that time. It will be a definite challenge to balance a team having to wait 10-20 picks in between additions to a squad. In an auction you could take 5 straight players if you want and it is easier to build "your" squad whereas in a serpentine you are the other teams mercy. I had other players I may have taken in a live draft with the $$$ on the line, but why give away secrets even in November? LOL I would rarely take a pitcher that early, even Verlander was a stretch as my last pick, but we shall see.
