Fellow Wildcat-nice!

Being an '02 grad and a west-sider you might have heard of/know a younger cousin of mine,

Anthony Gardner? He was the QB at St. Eds (booo) around that time-plays for Baldwin Wallace now.

while we have time..out of curiosity..any opinions on the picks so far..it's obvious that some breakout years from last year have moved a few players up the board..seems to me that catchers have gone a round later than they have in the past.

I noticed catchers goin later after Vic got hurt last year and Martin didn't break out the way people thought he would, and Mauer still hasn't show much power... I also noticed not nearly as many pitchers going... not a single closer yet, and only a handful of starters (Santana late 2nd.. Peavy in the 4th!) gone so far. People aren't afraid of the unproven young stars either it seems.. Kinsler, Quentin, Longoria, Kemp, Pedroia, Alexei all taken pretty early. Also, it's odd seeing Carlos Lee and Prince Fielder dropping to the 3rd round and Vlad to the 4th!

don't you think the best draft slot might be #5. the first five here are probably going to be the first five everywhere, just depends on the order, so just take whats left and go from there.

i have wright up this year because i feel the position is very weak. after arod, wright, miggy and aram. who's reliable. looks like evan's going to be a stud, but there's going to be a lot of pi$$ed off fantasy players this year if he goes thru the "soph jinx". after these players, what do you have...chipper?

The beauty of this = is with nothing on the line -you can roll out a strategy that you might not in the Main.

As for the young guys - Kinsler and Pedroia have earned their status with Kinsler entering his 4th season and Pedroia his 3rd - they are both legitimate 20-20 guys in great offensive lineups. The one knock on Kinsler is he gets banged up - but I would not call either of them unproven at this point - the fact is there is still statistical upside in both this year.

The 3B position is not as top heavy - but the 15th best 3b will still deliver a 20HR 80rbi campaign - you can win with that production at 3B - as log as you create your own advantages at other positions.

not to be pessimistic RC, pedroia is a good contact hitter with average, but he went from 8 hr's, 7 sb's in 520 ab's in '07, to 17 hr's, 20 sb's in 653 ab's '08. IMO, that makes him up and coming and necessarily unproven. people taking him in the second round are assuming he's going to duplicate or improve on his best year ever. IMO

IMO Look - I'm not saying that he will outproduce - but when you follow up a ROY with an MVP and play for the one of the Top teams in baseball - you have alot going for you. Let's just assume that Ellsbury takes a step forward and the Sox sign Texeira - which I think they will - how do you like Pedroia then? And it is all about scarcity when it comes to 2B.

not sure i agree on the scarcity at 2b anymore when you got 21hr, 87rbi, 103r, 6sb, 285avg from MARK DEROSA
