Wayne- One question for you- why in the hell are you so bad at this event? Your info is often times the best on this board IMO- Good info that changes my opinion on Millwood a bit. Appreciate the insight. [/QB]
Good question! :D

A couple of years ago, I was going to run in and show the world how much I knew about fantasy baseball. I have been quite humbled.

In '04 (up against Shawn and Lance and a bunch of other good owners in LV7), I had made it to third in the league with two weeks left and that was with suffering through the worst years of Giambi and Chippers career. Of course I collapsed, but at least I was a player.

In '05 I outsmarted myself in the draft. Just plain stupid picks.

In '06, hell, I do not know what happened. I really liked my team.

All the lack of success has only made me think a little more, try a little harder, listen a little more. I really like this forum and this event. Outside of family and work, it is my number 1 distraction. Loser or not, it is a lot of fun. I will win one day...'07 looks good!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

And thanks for the kind words. I am glad it does not just come out as a bunch of hot air.

wayne- i agree- you know what you are talking about. one thing i have noticed from wcoff football ( 20-25%) just aren't good "live drafters". they come in with a plan and then seem to abandon it for some reason. baseball is way way way more #'s oriented. i gotta believe once you get your draft position you can come up with a good plan. it won't work every year (injuries) but it will work most. + you should have a huge edge in free agent pickups. since i am in chicago- go get 'em in vegas.

I should say this cause we may be in the same league HH, but Mr. Dalrae and I come up with our plans for draft position now. When you learn your draft position you will have a week at most to plan. We come up with the plans now, test them, alter them as necesary and are prepared for anything long before we will need them. I also play in some satilitte leagues, so will likely have to draft in differant spots. It seems early and maybe it is, but being VERY well prepared last year was my advantage I think. we're ahead of schedule this year so far. i hope that means even better results. As you say though. You do need some luck, or at least the absence of bad luck, he drafted D. Lee in the first round, to succeed. We already know where we would like to draft and have strategies for that area. I'm still preparing for what if I have to draft elsewhere. I got the 4th pick last year, which was my last choice. Very bad luck, but I had a plan and overcame what I considered a bad spot. The plan was in place WAY in advance of needing it though and tweeked once I knew where I was. Hope I can help and it doesn't come back to bite me.

thanks vander. i have already spent way too much time on "what if i draft wherever" and i know exactly what you mean. since you brought it up- i will let you know my thinking. if i understand kds correctly- we send them our preferred draft order, they pick the 15 teams in the league and pick slot 1. whatever slot 1's #1 preference is- they get it. when say, slot 7 is picked that person will get their highest rated slot- that isn't already taken. if they went 1,2,8,9,10 and slot 2 wasn't taken but 1 was- then they would get 2. my kds as of now is 1,2,8,9,7 and so on with 13-14-15 being last. my reason on 8 is for me once i get past my first 2- the next 6-15 to me seem about the same- and i seem to like what i get in the middle going forward. last year i got #3 in satelite- probably the pick i wanted least and knew it was tex for power or crawford for speed and that not much speed was coming back (we drafted on the 28th). thanks, mike

14-13 Ray Durham

Any chance he will hit 20+ HR again?

I figure Tampa will simply have a Gladiator-like competition among Upton, Longoria, Wiggington, maybe Joel Guzman, and the last man standing gets the gig.
I smoked the Upton pipe in 05 and in the mag draft in 06- got burned twice but no one after round 12 has more upside. If he does not make a move this year I lose hope- and then he has to pull a Brandon Phillips.

15-2 Boof Bonser sp Twinkies. I assume we will go 23 rounds with this mock? Also per what some have suggested I am going to try to set up a mock at Mock central when we get our passes. I hope to do it for Tuesday Dec. 5 around 7:00 cdt. It would be great if we can fill it with all nfbc guys.

23 rounds is good.

Great job by everyone involved. Fun, informative, and very little bickering. Fantastic for a slow draft.
