Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

[/QUOTE]Wickman has been very successful in his career, but most of the time his role, to me, has been "Because we do not have anybody better" Closer or "The minute he trips up a little, we will put in someone else" Closer. There is volatility in the closer ranks every year and Wickman is always a named mentioned.

i really like what atlanta did. the way baseball is today- to have a shutdown 8th inning guy- and a good closer is crucial. wickman probaly is average- but atlantas d is excellent- maybe it will help him.

At 21-12, I'll take the last middle infielder who might have an actual shot at 20 dingers: Troy Tulowitzki.

Hmmm, two pitching slots left. Do I go with the Grizzled Vet or the Young Gun?

I know the Book says take a chance in the last two rounds, so that's just what I'll do. But since I already have three young arms (Kazmir/Olsen/Jennings) I'll grab the Injury-Waiting-to-Happen-Vet and light a candle that he has one more season left in his arm.

23-4: El Duque

(Hey, the guy had 164 K's in 162 IP last year).

(Hey, the guy had 164 K's in 162 IP last year). Sorry, dude. I picked Orlando Hernandez in the 15th round....

DAMN! Sorry boys, second time I've done that. Gotta learn how to use this newfangled "search" feature in my browser.

Well, I'll stick with the Vet and go with Jon Lieber and hope he gets traded to a nice safe pitchers park.
