He was a $1 bargain that extremely helped my team last year so I have some loyalty towards him. Plus he's a D-ray and has nice multiple position eligibilty. I now know I can wait for a long time to take him come spring.
[/QUOTE]If it's any consolation, I think he went late last night. As of December, with the TB infield playing time still unsettled, I would put him around the 15th or 16th.

So don't wait too long! LD

I would've taken him last night with my next pick and was kind of agrevated he went there. He probably shouldn't go that low. Especially with 2b eligibility. That's why I was aggrevated. really thought I was going to get a steal down there. Eventually took Kennedy and Valentin instead. Waited too long again last night and got screwed in MI again except for Jeter. had a chance to take Phillips and choked on it. Right after my 8th round pick there was a mini 2b run taking all that I liked that were left except Kinsler who I considered the worst of the bunch. (unless he gets to bat leadoff and has a breakout year both of which are possible, I don't know about likely).

Since KJ Duke has all of his pitchers, I'm going to make my final selection at 23-11 and take Braves lefty Mike Hampton...

I see your team as strong in speed,ERA and WHIP but will get killed with only 242 Home runs,70 Wins and 1007 K's.

Just my opinion.

Just my opinion. Don, good analysis, thanks for taking a look. I think some of my pitching numbers go up if Villanueva beats out Ohka for the #5 spot in the rotation (I'm guessing you have him projected as a middle reliever). If he can get 25 Starts/150IP then both Wins and K's make a jump.

You're right about the power, although my projections are just a bit higher as I'm more optimistic about a few of my "on the rise" guys that I think will show increased power, especially Quentin, Duncan, Olivo and Zimmerman (who I think will hit a combined 100-110 homers). Perhaps too rosey a view, but I like their skills and see an across-the-board increase in all of their numbers.

Thanks again...

Ok I admit I would change much of my own team if I could,so here goes. I likeMcCan of course but think there's s good chance he'll not be as good this year and Valentin will likely split time again? I also wouldn't take a catcher real early this year with the emergance of several the position is as deep as it's been in a while. Having said that I don't want the 29th and 30th rated guys either. I like your inlield. Good BA and Jeter and Wright are great all round players of course in good offenses. I don't like your outfield. very uncertain. Could miss a lot of playing time. Expect Roberts to go on dl Freel and Burrell sometimes fragile and both could get bumped to the bench or fight for playing time if they slump. Green now in pitchers ballpark and power declining although a better lineup. Guillen? Nice pick down there, don't get me wrong, but you may not be able to count on him. I think your starting staff is good. maybe short on K's (I'm an expert there since I've finished near the bottom in K's the last 2 years) Good other than that. I like Jenks a lot and he could really break out this year. I don't like Benitez. I think he's basically done. Closers are tough though. Not many good ones I like. I think your team is short on steals and maybe power unless Kent really bounces back. You need about 168 steals to be where I'm trying to get too and about 299 hr's. Just an early critique and as I said my team can be torn apart also. With some of the picks I made it should be torn apart. Learned lots. Probably need to learn more.

my team: catcher: posada, paulino

infield: 1b helton, overbay, 2nd castillo, 3rd glause ss lopez uribe dh shealy

outfield: sizemore, a jones, jaque jones, chris young, emil brown

pitching: satana, mussina, reyes, pettite, glavine, wolf, morris. closers street, atsuna

team analysis: i didn't make 1st 5 picks. but i like the 1st 3. andrew jones is in contract year. sizemore is a stud and nice 2nd round pick . mostly veteran team. i needed power- took glause, needed ba ave- took helton. i think he can hit .320 again. his power is gone: 15 homers is the bottom- but 22 is probably top. shealy will bat 4th in a better lineup. paulino will not hit .300- but he won't hit .250 either. i don't project- but i had too for shealy and chris young. chris young: 20/20 70 70 and .270. homers might be high, steal low- who knows. he is gonna start. he is good. shealy= 500 abs 20 hr, 2 sb, 85 rbi, 75 runs, .275. with that i have 290 hr, 1119 rbi,147 steals, 1154runs .281 ba.

pitching. took vets. amazing how great santana is- when you throw in his #'s . tried to take mostly vets on winning teams. allowed myself 1 comeback guy late- wolf, 1 young guy- reyes and 1 slight improvement- morris. atsuka now not a closer- but wanted to have "fair mock' so took my second in the round i would do it. pettite gets higher era and whip in ny. reyes: 14 wins, 145k, 1.38 whip, 4.30 era, wolf 12 wins, 150k 4.5 era, 1.40 whip. with that i get 100 wins, 1250 k, 3.75 era, 1.260 whip, 50 saves???

ps: in a good draft- i doubt anyone hits there #'s without some really optimistic projections. i use the past when i can.

thanks to all and blast way!

ps to team headhunters: 4 guys drafted this team, bjoak, kj duke, berkshire, me. kj duke took lopez. if there is one guy i have no clue on it is lopez. if you are in a draft with me- i will not consider him until late round 5. he basically reversed his power speed #'s- and i have no clue. it wasn't washington- he was well on his way before he got there. people can say it is a tough hitters park- but MANY MANY people (me too) got off soriano- he goes from texas to washington and hits 40. what does he hit in wrigley- 60? anyway- what if new manager doesn't want to run? what if he does and power returns? i have no clue so i will avoid. mike

Thanks Vander - for reviewing my team and being honest...You made some good points and your right this is a leaning experience for me. Did anybody notice that I took 18 NL players? I know 95% of the player pool in the NL, but I'm lacking in knowledge of the AL pool...I think that hurt me the most...Especially not knowing all of the AL starting position players...

Thanks RT

Thoughts? Kendall and Olivo are ok for not high picks. Solid infield picks. Johnson's always hurt. Produces when he's not. Oufield looks good too. Like your first starters back end and rp's are weak. no problem going with Villanueava when you did. I know another high on him. If he works fantastic. If he doesn't, you didn't risk much and he can be replaced. I understand the strat with Zumaya and Jones. I would take extra starter or 2 for the reserves to be able to put in when needed. Good team BA, may be short on sb's and hr's unless Abreu returns to big power #'s. again just my opinion.

But not SB's; in fact, I would venture a guess that this team would near the top of the leage in that category. Because in addition to having Pierre, who is worth about 5 points by himself, I've got 6 more hitters who stole at least 10 bases last year (Abreu/Kendall/Zimmerman/Johnson/Cabrera/Hudson). And Olivo, DeJesus and Tulowitzki could all definitely hit that level as well if they get their 450AB's as projected. As I see it this roster should hit 160 SB's, which in most leagues is probably good for around 12 points.

bef- i think even more than 160. i like your pitching- but boy tb is going to be a pitchers nightmare- no bullpen- and a defense vying with the cubs and dodgers as the worst in the history of baseball.

I could've miscalculated sb's not giving credit to Tulowitzki and Olivo. I do only count 25 for Abreu assuming he will start to slow down. Realizing he could be higher if he doesn't.

outfield: sizemore, a jones, jaque jones, chris young, emil brown

pitching: satana, mussina, reyes, pettite, glavine, wolf, morris. closers street, atsuna

team analysis: i didn't make 1st 5 picks. but i like the 1st 3. andrew jones is in contract year. sizemore is a stud and nice 2nd round pick . mostly veteran team. i needed power- took glause, needed ba ave- took helton. i think he can hit .320 again. his power is gone: 15 homers is the bottom- but 22 is probably top. shealy will bat 4th in a better lineup. paulino will not hit .300- but he won't hit .250 either. i don't project- but i had too for shealy and chris young. chris young: 20/20 70 70 and .270. homers might be high, steal low- who knows. he is gonna start. he is good. shealy= 500 abs 20 hr, 2 sb, 85 rbi, 75 runs, .275. with that i have 290 hr, 1119 rbi,147 steals, 1154runs .281 ba.

pitching. took vets. amazing how great santana is- when you throw in his #'s . tried to take mostly vets on winning teams. allowed myself 1 comeback guy late- wolf, 1 young guy- reyes and 1 slight improvement- morris. atsuka now not a closer- but wanted to have "fair mock' so took my second in the round i would do it. pettite gets higher era and whip in ny. reyes: 14 wins, 145k, 1.38 whip, 4.30 era, wolf 12 wins, 150k 4.5 era, 1.40 whip. with that i get 100 wins, 1250 k, 3.75 era, 1.260 whip, 50 saves???

ps: in a good draft- i doubt anyone hits there #'s without some really optimistic projections. i use the past when i can.

thanks to all and blast way! Hi HeadHunter. Nice Work on finishing the draft for me. I did the 1st 3 picks then I got totally distracted with work and with some personal life stuff. Glad you like the 1st 3 picks Kind of funny that somehow Headhunter would finish up for Spyhunter...
