Well, I already had Helton for BA and Crawford for SB so I could probably "afford" Dunn's BA hit better than most, and needed the HR power, so it was perhaps a more context-dependent pick than raw composite value...

I disagree totally. He has had one injury and that was to his knee. In high school he played and was a star in all the major sports and was never hurt. His knee injury in the Dome was a freak thing. The lower everyone takes him the better I like it but this guy will be a super star.

Plymoth, maybe it is my bad (the season is early I have not made it to catchers in my analysis yet), but the spin I have always read was "great talent...can he stay healthy..." And serious knee injuries in catchers usually have a way of resurfacing given the constraints of the position. Just my opinion and he could just as easily have a monster year...I have other prejudices as well like age (high and low) and coming off career years. It all speaks to risk especially in the upper rounds.

[/QUOTE]I understand. It is a good balanced strategy. Dunn plays in a hitters paradise as does Helton. You took him about where I expect he will go given his power. Whomever gets him for real will hope he finishes closer to .260 rather than .245 or .235...both real possibilities.

Nice to have a catcher who can steal 13 bases like Mauer did last year...What knee problem! And the .294 average is not bad either.

Not a big help (yet...only 23) otherwise with 61/9/55 for R/HR/RBI, but he could grow. He will probably go this early for real given the dearth of catchers out there, but that is giving up (if he only matches last year) of core power and production in the 3rd round.

What is the word on power? Too early to tell?

Guys, good to read, but commentary etc should go in a separate thread - save this for picks.

Where is Maui Dude? was he sent a PM?

Gekko- you get to watch bjoak draft for free and you diss it, shame on you.

As far as the sporting news mag- the commentary is terrible but I do like the alphabetical layout in the back as a quick guide for stats.

Mauer in the 3rd is a horrible pick. You could have gotten him in the 5th round.Just my opinion capt hook, so dont take it out on me on the card table. Cant wait for my 1st draft feb, 21.

Are we gonna let it die or would someone want to take over for Maui?

Dude once again relax- it is not your thread and not your call to shut it down, or decide someone should be skipped because they are not responding to the pace you like. It is 15 guys slowly and sometimes quickly working through a mock draft and trying to have a little fun during a slow baseball season. I may have the sacks to make fun of a certain pick for a year, but not to decide a thread should be deleted or locked because it is not moving at a pace I deem fit.
