George Hedrick Is Week 7 Online Championship Winner
Landing a star player is a big plus in any draft. But finding a great value pick is often what separates the great teams from the good ones.
George Hedrick may have found such a player this year in Jason Bartlett.
A huge week from Bartlett (.385-2-13-3) was one of the keys to helping Hedrick’s team pace the field in the Online Championship last week with 5,217.5 points.
Big weeks from Mark Teixeira (.444-5-10Torii Hunter (.333-1-10-3) and Mark Reynolds (.357-4-9-6) also were huge. Chad Billingsley, Cole Hamels, Scott Baker and Scott Richmond combined for three wins and 47 strikeouts to lead the pitching. Ryan Franklin had two saves.
“I’m not sure how this happened,” Hedrick said. “Good weeks from Teixeira, Reynolds, Hunter and Bartlett helped and so did getting two starts each from Baker, Mark Buehrle, Billingsley, Hamels and Richmond.
“I reached for some players I wanted like Furcal and Inge who have yielded mixed results so far. But I lucked out with everyone else who I drafted. Bartlett has been playing like his hair’s on fire.”
Hedrick lives in Reston, VA with his wife Teddy and his son, who is a junior in college.
