There is not a player I have disliked more in the Major Leagues over the last year than Roy Oswalt.
Oswalt was allowed to go back to his farm last year, when he was alerted that tornadoes had left devastation near his property.
The Phillies gave him permission to go back home and clean up the debris and stuff that landed on his farm. While in the process of sitting on his tractor and other farm implements, Oswalt returned to Philadelphia with a balky back.
That I saw through the media, Oswalt never thanked the Phils for the time off and he never apologized for hurting his back on his own time. To Oswalt, it was just all bad luck. None of his own making.
So, I was not in the least surprised that Oswalt refused to pitch another inning of relief because he fancies himself as only a starter.
Roy Oswalt has no World Series rings.
He ask not what Roy Oswalt can do for baseball, he asks what baseball can do for Roy Oswalt.
It's not about the team on his shirt.
It's not about his teammates.
It's about Roy Oswalt.
It's possible he could get a World Series ring.
A World Series ring!
And he lets an ego get in the way.
But, of course a ring signifies sharing with other teammates.
Teammates are not a priority for Oswalt.
So, maybe the ring wouldn't mean much.
Oswalt has his movies confused.
He thinks of himself as the ever youthful Joe Jackson in 'Field of Dreams'.
In reality, he's the hanger on in 'For the Love of the Game'
The problem being being, he doesn't have the love of the game.
What he does have is one of the worst of human senses.
The sense of entitlement.

Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
