this is Ken (Fat Elvis) .Thanks for getting me in that last spot Dan. Looking forward to it. just so you guys know, I'm a big fan of auto 1 whenever possible, and will also draft from iphone/ipdad anytime, anywhere. Will give everyone my cell for txting purposes also, just in case I get sidetracked by, an NFL playoff game, a movie or.....hopefully.....a good cigar on the patio.

Its funny that you listed your height and weight Dan. Now if you can come up with about 18 more statistics about yourself, you can make it into the Forecaster. But one thing I wondered at the live NFBC drafts is the whole food and drinks thing. It is not like the food you are paying 50-100 for is even being tasted. If everyone is like I am, the adrenaline is pumping so hard that it could well be deep fried sole of shoe. Eating and drinking is reserved for home leagues in someones'' basement, where poker games erupt post draft. At the NFBC, it is about nervously checking draft boards, checking lists and then quickly emailing friends who you drafted.

Last year, I was out at our local Italian eatery on a Friday night towards the tail end of March. Before we moved, we went there every Friday night. I liked it if they didn't have a table ready so I could grab a beer at the bar and watch sports du jour, as we awaited our table and overly salty tomato sauce over fill in the blank.

At the bar this one fine night, with the smell of spring in the still cool night air, were three guys in their 30s-40s obviously giddy and slightly buzzed. We started chatting and it turned out they were awaiting their take out pizzas to take into one of their basement where there auction would take place. The guy whose house it was made his own wine which was basically an endless vat. We started talking baseball and fantasy(one guy had done an NFBC Satellite). My favorite of the 3 or 4 guys, I gave my best sleeper of 2012...Kendrys Morales, which I guess was not that great of a pick in hindsight.

Their pizzas arrived. The stack of pizzas was so big and so varied that they needed all of them, arms full, to carry them out the door. As they were leaving, one of the guys insisted that I come with them...role undetermined(draft my own team? work the auction board? serve the wine?) "C'mon", he said, "it will be one of the best nights ever"

My wife, who is not that understanding about roto, looked at me and said "go if you want". In retrospect, I think that she meant it, but at the time, I read it as "go if you want and never hear the end of it" So I did not go. Had a crappy chicken parm over penne and wished everyday since that I had said yes.

Good stuff, Doug.
I would have made the same decision.
One night of fantasy fun on the fly does not make up for all the reminders of that night from the wife. No matter how many ways she says it, we picked strangers over them.
Tough for them to handle, so they remind us....many times.
And yet, we get no 'attaboys' for choosing a night with them. Just the satisfaction of knowing that it won't be brought up again by her, while thinking in our heads that that sure would have been fun.

A no win situation to be sure!

Hmmmmmm,

Dan, where would you put the over / under for this participants number of posts to the league message board? :P

The banter was very enlightening. I'm glad he was able to find the time to post as often as he did. 8-)

Wasn't it grand, Joe?
There were disagreements galore, but always with the subject at hand, never personal.
Mark, being in drafts spices things up. He'll stick by his guns, unrelenting. It's just what makes him tick. It makes me chuckle to think that not only does he want to beat you, he wants to show you HOW he'll beat you.
It was the perfect mix of 15 drafters with picks that hardly ever stopped and a chat board to match.
I miss it already.

Hahaha!!! I guess I meant dont expect many posts from me during the work day. After work, picks were coming so fast, I'd find myself sitting by the computer more than I thought. Turning Mikey into a pinata was fun too

I miss it already as well Dan. I can't believe the number of players that came up that I had no clue about. It certainly helped me get up to speed on a lot of players. This is probably why I stick to 12 team events, I don't have to go so massively deep into the player pool.

Your description of Mark was perfect. I considered it entertaining and informative at the same time. I hope we gather the same group again in mid February for another go.

all I can say is thanks guys, way to make this seem more like a local league where we all have been drafting together for years with that added newbie here and there. I already miss it. Started checking my phone for no apparent reason today. :D

This is Ken (Ken's Krusher's). I am wide open in February. Only committment is to a $500 satellite league on March 25th. So, I am definitely interested if you guys decide to 'get the band back together' in February. Somebody please call or email me so that I don't miss out.

It was great having you, Ken.
And in the nicest way possible....YOU'RE A BASTARD!
Ever have one of those drafts where one person was taking all your coming draft picks?
Ken was that person for me in that draft! Six to eight times!
So you're not invited, Ken!!
Just kidding with that last part :D
I've been grumpy lately with no current drafts at the moment. :D
A few of us are going to get together for a $375 in February, the door is wide open for you to take my players....again :D
You are more than welcome, my player stealing friend.

I'll also extend an invitation for those reading here first.
If wanting to draft in a $375 'Well paced Draft' in February, reply here or PM me.
You'll be entered in the Overall with this draft as well. I don't like the $1400 for first through third place a lot myself, but them's the prizes. It can't be changed.
One feature in this draft is that no KDS is needed.
Draft spots will be picked by NFBC'er Roger Martin's daughter, Mia, who underwent two brain surgeries this past year.
Roger is trying to get it set up where we can watch Mia pick these names out of the hat.
If this is something you're interested in, let me know. As of now, I have around 5 people interested and I'll start a list here later today.
Thanks all.

Count me in!!!!

Of course, the difference is that you haven't actually taken alll my money yet!!! lol

Good luck my friend....but either way, I am having a blast!!

You should invite Mike Edelman, Dough. PM him. Saw he signed up for a fast-paced DC event already. He should be game, and is a top player. Also a MTM Super competitor along with Jupinka. :D

Great to see that you were able to get Mike Edelman on board. What about Dave Anthony and/or his brother Joe? I'm sure at least one of them would be in. Ante Meich is also a good guy and strong player who you may want to contact who is currently in a 4hr DC with me that is finishing up. He also jumped in the MTM this year as well. Maybe he'd be game for this one. If you're still looking for a two more, I have a bunch of people I could contact directly for you. Let me know.

'No KDS, places will be drawn by Roger Martin's daughter who kicked brain surgery in the ass....twice!'

Regarding this.....Any idea when Roger's daughter will draw the draft spots? Always kind of fun to have a few days before the draft knowing your position.

Also, If I am not mistaken the draft itself will begin on Monday, Feb 18th, right?

Yes, it will start on Feb 18.
If this doesn't fill by the end of the weekend, I'll put it on the Main Subject page on Monday.
I think we can probably have Mia select our draft spots a week before the draft.
Is that good, Rog?
