I'll send out e-mails to all around the first of the month.
We have a few participants battling for league titles and possible Overall titles. Starting the Pre-Mature League early may not be something they want.
We'll see.
As is, it'll start at the same time as scheduled, coinciding with the last pitch of this season.
I can't wait.....again :D

Dan- Just an idea ....We should rename the league to Roger's little girls name- something like the "Mia invitational 2014 kickoff league" something along those lines

It's a good idea, Mike.
But, we already have a 'Mia League'.
I think that league will be together for a long time. It's a $375 (Which will probably change to $400 this year) 50 Round Express Draft.
If somebody drops out, would you like me to contact you in getting in?

I'm in for the premature DC, no FAAB, again.

That said, I do want to wait until the season ends. I'm watching things very closely this season, more so than normal.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

No problem, Dan.
You are in the second pre-mature, 50 rounds, no faab.
That won't start till October.
Good luck with all your top teams.

The Pre-Mature League's first pick will be Friday, September 27 after those last lineups are set for this year.
At this moment, Bryan Vogel, who apparently bribed Mia with Ho-Ho's, Ding Dongs, Doritos, and 7-11 Slurpee'si s awaiting putting out the first draft pick while rubbing his hands together, throwing back his neck, and bellowing "Muuuhhhaaaha!"

So, what about you non-PreMature League guys?
How do you think the first round ?
Let's have some guesses here.
Closest guesses will get a free pizza from Rick Thomas upon showing your NFBC Membership card at his pizza establishment.
Second prize gets to tug on Greg's mustache. Beard pulling is the rage in Boston. You'll be able to 'pull a stache' in Vegas.
Pre-Mature are also eligible for these valuable prizes.

So how do you think the top 15 goes in one week?
Is Puig on your list?
Kemp?
Davis?
Votto?
Free agent, Cano?
A Pitcher?
Let us know.

NFBC Membership Cards can still be purchased for $25 from [email protected]

I'm working my way through my projections right now, and so far there have been several surprise players who got first rounds scores on my board.

I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with for a few of these guys, to see if I'm on an island by myself or if the group consensus is similar.

Only a week until draft season begins!

Pre-Mature Leaguers-
Stan will be away Saturday and out of touch.
So, in order to get through the first round and part of the second round, let's start a day earlier on Thursday.
For those that are waist deep in trying to win leagues, take your time in making a pick. It's only 24 hours early and should not impede on your 2013 world much, while looking ahead to 2014 and this draft.

Thanks All.

Alright, the first round of the PreMature League Draft is finished.
Here it is

First Round-

1. Mike Trout
2. Miguel Cabrera
3. Paul Goldschmidt
4. Chris Davis
5. Andrew McCutchen
6. Robinson Cano
7. Clayton Kershaw
8. Carlos Gonzalez
9. Ryan Braun
10. Adam Jones
11. Bryce Harper
12. Joey Votto
13. Giancarlo Stanton
14. Hanley Ramirez
15. Jacoby Ellsbury

What are the thoughts?

Here are mine...

Trout, Cabrera....Cabrera, Trout....Almost every NFBC draft will start this way.
Stats-wise, age-wise, team-wise, even league-wise, there is just nothing that won't keep these two from being one-two in most drafts
Except for Kershaw, three-eight are interchangeable, each could have been the third pick, each could have been the seventh pick.
Kershaw is a wild card. I feel he will float around from draft to draft because he is a pitcher. He may be taken as high as the third pick by somebody who really covets him or he could fall to as low as 2/5 or even 2/8 in some drafts that do not want pitchers first.

Braun at nine is ballsy. There are just so many questions involving the guy. We will never get a true answer as to how long he has been cheating. Then there is the health issue and if cheating may have masked or helped along some issues there.
It's a bold pick.
Adam Jones is solid. A drafter eyeing stability.
Harper is a pick made by closing one eye to injury problems, while keeping the other eye to the future knowing he'll be a home run leader.
Joey Votto, I think, will be taken around this spot in most drafts. He takes a hit, because he takes a walk.
Giancarlo Stanton is the Mike Tyson of baseball. With a body like that, how could he NOT hit a home run?
This drafter is taking physicality over practicality.
Hanley Ramirez loses his 3b positioning, but his owner won't lose sleep over that.
Healthy, Hanley is one of the few players in baseball that can exceed Trout numbers.
Jacoby Ellsbury won't have a team in a couple of weeks, so this pick is a little risky at this time of year. If Ellsbury signs with the Yankees and their short right field, he could be the number one pick in 2015 drafts.
However, if signing with a lesser team on a bigger field, he could fall back to judy status.

I think there is a lot of risk with a lot of the top 30 players. A lot of low risk aces are soon to be taken and a lot of low risk OF and position players are still available. My do not draft list becomes bigger and bigger each year.

Thanks for posting these Dan. I guess it's never to early to start formulating player pool options for each part of the draft.

Great stuff Dough.

I straight-up hate the Matt Carpenter pick. That's a ridiculous buy-high pick on a guy who really only helps you in BA and R and affirmatively hurts you in SB. A good fantasy player doesn't need to pay a premium for runs.

Longoria and Freeman will end up going higher by March.

I think the 1/2 spots are such a huge advantage right now....3RR?

I predict there won't be a single draft come March where Hanley falls out of the Top 10

Great stuff, Dan. I don't know who anyone is, but I find myself liking Teams 1 and 2 a lot.

If I'm reading this correctly, someone started with Kershaw, Darvish and Fernandez in the first three rounds. Gutsy! Success will depend on grabbing enough hitting in the upcoming rounds, but this team is the early favorite to win Ks and ERA!

Real interesting seeing a number of former first rounders making an appearance in Round 3. I was particularly interested in seeing where Kemp wound up. I have to lose my fantasy-crush for Kemp before next year. He burned me on multiple teams this year, but that high, five-category upside in the third round seems tempting IF he can stay healthy (a really big IF). Funny how some guys burn you once and you forever hate them, while others just keep tempting you. (I had him on a local team two years ago when he was robbed of the MVP and fell in fantasy-love.)

Please keep the updates coming!
