I got an e-mail from an NFBC newcomer from last year taking me to the wood shed for a comment made in the 'General Discussion' subject. He objected to me classifying the 50 round drafts as 'AAA Events'.
In a way, he is correct. A championship is a championship. He has never entered a Main Event and doesn't know if he will.
This is why I understand where he 's coming from. If never entering the Main Event, then it is very likely that one will be hurt by calling the 50 rounders, AAA.
Many writers in their publications like to say they've won this many leagues or that many National Leagues.
I don't care.
How many Main Event leagues have they won?
That is what I look for.
Why?
Because it tells me first that this guy is good.
And second, it tells me that whatever this guy says, it'll probably be relevant for NFBC purposes.
For those of us who enter both, Main Events and 50 rounders, we have a different agenda than just winning a 50 Rounder.
I even get upset at winning a 50 rounder while floundering in a Main Event. It means that I had some players right, and my methodology was correct, but I did not apply that when it came time for the Main Event.
This, of course, leaves out the level of competition at the Main Event. That level of competition made it tougher to get my players and made it tougher to game plan.
Ask any Main Event player this question-
Would you rather win five 50 rounders or a Main Event?
The money is virtually the same, and I would be surprised if the Main Event Championship did not get at least 90% of the votes.
The Main Event is more than about the money.
It is like the World Poker Championship on ESPN.
There are larger money events. There are smaller money events. The Main Event is the Event in which we judge all NFBC'ers. We don't remember any names from the other poker places, but we do recognize the winners from Main Events.
It's the way it is here too.
If you've won a 50 rounder....good for you.
And that's the reaction you'll get from anybody who enters the Main Event.
Good for you.
It's a step.
You may have beaten some Main Eventers in your draft.
Again, good for you.
That's a larger step.
Now, take the big step.
You don't even have to go to Las Vegas. You can draft your Main Event online.
Do it.
If you're like a lot of us, THAT will be the team you most follow throughout the year.
I guarandamntee you.
That is the team that separates you from Yahoo, ESPN, CBS, and even 50 rounder winners.
That will be the team that tells you, you are one of the best.
The Main Event
The Main Event
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

This line says it all....and is so true.DOUGHBOYS wrote:The Main Event is more than about the money.
PS....I'd like to keep the Main Event name. The Classic to me is football, the Main Event is the Main Event.

I will have to agree with both of you gentlemen on these statements. Yeah really hate that Classic name, sounds like something old and wore out.
Re: The Main Event
All the new Classic name will do is cause Confusion. Keep it the Main Event- the Grandaddy of Fantasy leagues.
