A Davis In Every Subject

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Wed Oct 16, 2013 10:04 am

I drafted Ike Davis in the Pre-Mature League Draft. Ike Davis is a reason why I think projections are worthless.
It wouldn't surprise baseball people to see Ike Davis hit 30 homers.
It also wouldn't surprise baseball people to see Ike Davis wash out and become minor league fodder.
I can put him down for .265/80/25/90/0, but I'd just be bolstering my draft pick.

The truth is Ike Davis is unprojectionable as are other players of his kind.
Shandler says that once a skill is displayed, the player owns it.
Davis skill is that he could be a asset or just an ass to a fantasy team. He's a player that writers will say, 'He COULD HIT 30 HOMERS'
We already know that! He hit 32 one year.
We also know he could hit five. He hit seven one year.

Writers won't admit it, but sometimes a player will be drafted with a 'maybe we'll get lucky' approach. I did with Davis.
I can see Ike Davis hitting more homers than Chris Davis. Folks might think that statement as outlandish fresh after Chris Davis year, but I don't see Chris Davis as a consistent player.
I can see him tanking like Ike. (Like Ike? Hey, that's catchy!)
Just two years ago, Chris Davis hit five homers in 199 at bats.
Those are Ike Davis numbers!

OK CHANGE OF SUBJECT-
Somebody in Toronto should be fired. They spent all that money and made all those trades last year and never threatened.
What a joke. They, of course, blamed injury.
Like no other teams had injury.
How about if we blame them for not using their personnel correctly?
They trade for Jose Reyes and put him at the top of their lineup.
AND HE DOESN'T RUN!
15 stolen bases!
Are you serious?

They trade for Emily Bonifacio.
AND HE DOESN'T RUN!
In fact, they end up benching him.
Then, he figuratively and literally runs for KC.

They play Rajai Davis part time.
AND HE GETS TO RUN?!?
Davis ends up with almost twice as many stolen bases as Reyes and Emily combined for Toronto.
It seems that the Blue Jays offense was predicated on getting on base for Bautista and Encarnacion to knock runs in.
If that is the case, what is the point of having jack rabbits at the top of the line up?
Davis and Gose are free because they hit after the sluggers?
If that theory is used next year, do fantasy owners a solid and bat Reyes sixth.
At least he'll be free to steal bases like Rajai Davis.

CHANGE OF SUBJECT-
Speaking of stolen base guys....
I disliked watching Michael Bourn last year. I didn't own him, and felt sorry for those that did.
It looked like he got complacent and a little fat with his new contract.
It was as if he was looking NOT to steal.
Drafting a judy is like buying sex.
Drafters of Bourn were expecting a Call Girl experience for how much was paid.
Instead they were only teased.
Those who waited and drafted Rajai Davis got the 'ol reliable satisfaction at the local house of ill repute for a cheaper price.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
