Hand Holding Stops in Two Days.....

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Wed Sep 24, 2014 3:11 pm

I have four fantasy football teams in the NFFC.
I don't usually do this.
Over the years, I have gotten further and further away from football. Teams are barely the same year to year. Injuries are stupid bad. It has become more of a luck game than skill game.

But, my fantasy baseball teams were so bad this year, it brought me to a WTF stage. Ha! My daughter would die laughing if she saw me type 'WTF'.
Anyway, most of my teams FERNANDEZ had so many injuries TANAKA that I felt like crap GOLDSCHMIDT about my teams DARVISH that I would go over to the Dark Side AVASAIL. I hate that folks blame injury for a bad season. I also had poor picks ALVAREZ that turned to crap PEDROIA or maybe worse, didn't even play at all BRADLEY.

Fantasy baseball enthusiasts have different reasons for liking baseball over football.
For me, the number one reason is the 'plug in' in football.
It's too easy to FAAB a second string running back once a starter is hurt. And alot of times, these plugged in second stringer.
Sometimes, it is the offense that hums, not a player.
I just saw a fantasy football show screaming that Donald Brown is a MUST PLAY!
Three weeks ago, Brown was an afterthought, now a 'must play'.
Montee Ball is not a proven running back. And after three weeks, he's still not.
But, it doesn't take a rocket scientist or fantasy football player to know that Ball should score in that offense,
Ronny Hillman, CJ Anderson, and Todd Zola can get points in that offense.
When Tulo goes down, his owners simply can't plug in Rutledge and get even close to the same results.

Just the same, football has become a nice diversion. The study involved with football is smallish compared to baseball.
And I do like the one day thing. Stats come in fast and heavy, making baseball a tortoise compared to intake of stats from football's hare-like pace.
Football is like getting lucky once a week. Baseball is like being married and your luck rides more with your wife's mood. Paydirt could be hit two or three times a week, but those weekly or more slumps can really get your dobber down.
Still, I know myself.
I know that when baseball drafts start that I will quit holding hands with football and look for something more substantial from baseball.
Two days before the first draft.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Zola in the backfield with Peyton, I'd buy a ticket for that game!

I used to try and make people happy by playing in their Fantasy Football leagues, but by week 8 I was having a hard time caring enough to change my lineup or talk football.
My 2015 Season starts today for baseball as crazy as that sounds to some and in someways, I enjoy the "offseason" of prepping and drafts more than the season itself. For me, I had a great fantasy baseball season this year and it makes all the extra time I put into it worth it… but in hind site, I sucked the 3 years before this one and still thought it was worth it! :D
My response to people trying to change my baseball loyalties.
