I don't know Hanley Ramirez. Most of us don't. We judge Hanley Ramirez in what we see on the field.
What I see is a player who looks as though he has lost his zest to play the game of baseball.
In his career, Ramirez has proven that he cannot play shortstop, third base, and especially left field.
Hanley Ramirez playing left field was like Don Knotts playing Barney Fife. Both, providing comedy and had us shaking our heads.
Now, the Red Sox will put Hanley Ramirez at first base. Insert jokes here.
At the least, Hanley will have a bigger glove. There is that.
Without the big contract, the Red sox would be showing the Hanley the door. Instead, they show him another position.
It's said in real life that 'money talks, bullshit walks'.
In Boston, 'money talks, bullshit finds another position on the Sox'.
I don't know Don Orsillo. Most of us don't. We judge Don Orsillo in what we hear during Red Sox games.
NESN did not retain Orsillo for next year.
What I heard from Orsillo was an entertaining broadcaster who played well with analyst, Jerry Remy.
It's a pleasure listening to Red Sox games while watching the MLB package.
To me, the Red Sox, Mets, and Giants broadcasts were above others.
The Orsillo/Remy tandem were good for at least a few laughs during every broadcast.
In a time when we are being bombarded by play by play announcers who 'homer' it up at every chance, Orsillo was fair in his broadcasting.
I'll miss the Orsillo/Remy exchanges.
From my point of view, the Red Sox will be a lot less watchable next year. Both on the field and off.
Hanley Stays, Orsillo goes...And So It Goes...

On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
