Empty Calorie players

Post by Donacion » Mon Apr 10, 2017 3:31 pm

Hi Dan

Would love your thoughts on who you might see fits this description. I drafted Alex Gordon because I had a thought he looked good. First FAAB I wanted a player started looking at who to drop. Gordon did not pop into my thoughts until I started reading the label. I realized there are guys like Gordon in a 12 team league always around. I fell for the advertising when I drafted him. On the same shelf are generic Alex Gordon's to be had. Your good at this who else would you say fits this description.
Alex Gordon dropped.

Hi Joe!
Good to hear from you.

The first player that came to mind was Hunter Pence.
He's not the same player as in the past. And the park kills him as well.
When drafting Pence, we are drafting his batting position. He hits in the middle of a lineup and we hope for R/RBI because of it.
With some players, we do make the mistake of drafting the batting place in the order.
We figure that as long as the player hits up in a lineup, everything will work out.
It was that way with Alcides Escobar owners for a long time.
Martin Prado and Nick Markakis also are in play for 'empty calories'. Especially in a 12 team league.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Geez, I forgot about the King of empty calorie players.
Joe Mauer.
Premium batting spot in the lineup.
Yet, he no longer offers much as a fantasy player.
Even with 750 players drafted.
Sad in a lot of ways.
