Spots, Old Friends, and Yoenis

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Wed Mar 14, 2018 7:52 am

Every year, the beginning of Spring Training is like something that happens in all of our lives.
You know, like we're in a store and we run into a fella that we haven't seen in years. And that's ok with us, cuz years ago we thought this guy to be a dick. He starts telling us how he has changed his life around and we start believing him...like this...

'Yoenis Cespedes has incorporated yoga into his routine in an attempt to avoid injury.

Yes, Yo does yoga. Cespedes still considers himself a beginner, but he explained through an interpreter that he's already feeling a difference in regard to his flexibility. As part of his offseason conditioning plan, Cespedes also ran more than ever while cutting down on the amount of weight he lifted. It's all part of an effort to avoid the leg injuries which have hampered him over the past two years.'

We listen and in our minds start giving the guy a break.
Then, he keeps on talking...
How much money he makes...
How many women he's had...
How many times he's rescued babies from burning cars...

And we realize this guy hasn't changed at all....

'Yoenis Cespedes got a cortisone injection for his sore right wrist.
Cespedes began experiencing discomfort in his wrist on Sunday and was scratched from the Mets' Grapefruit League lineup on Tuesday, but the good news is X-rays have revealed no fractures of any kind. The veteran outfielder should be fine -- though maybe not quite 100 percent -- for the start of the season. He's also been bothered by a shoulder issue this spring in Mets camp.'

Yep, we think to ourselves that our boring existence is a lot better than the dick that stands before us.
He hasn't changed.
He has only made a good change public, while still keeping all the virtues we despised so long ago.

(This is not to say that Yoenis Cespedes is a dick. He may be a very nice guy. Although his owners last year would probably not agree.)
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
