I agree with getting upside players...but this team is filled with them. I think thats a big risk, or maybe high reward?

Having Phillips, Martin, Rollins as your only solid veterans is a little odd. You need proven veterans with great numbers to balance your team a little.

I think this team really struggles out of the gate, but makes up ground to finish in the mid half of the pac.

Like I said on my other posts. I am not a pro, just giving my rookie fantasy thoughts.

Nailing down your catching with 2 studs is a viable way to create value in a scarce spot. Even in a 12 team league, 24 productive catchers are hard to come by.

I think your best 5 OF right now are Bruce, Hermida, Spilborghs, Franceour and Kubel... the rest you really need to see how the playing time competition effects all of them. Make sure you start the season with whoever has the clearest path to full time. Filling your OF with misc. 2/3 and timeshare guys will kill ya. In spite of having a roster full of OF potential you may still be better off surfing the waiver wire for guys who will get 500 at bats.

You'll need to be smooth at mix and match with your SP since you can only play 7 per week (and should be 6 if you can nail that 3rd closer somewhere). You're behind in saves unless Lyon emerges.

Not a bad roster, just be aware of your holes and work on 'em

Would you start outfielder Chris Young?

Very tough draft in this league... Plan A went out the door in the first round. Plan B went out the door in the third. Plan C went out the door in round four. After that it was me, a couple of bratwursts, a bowl of chili, and the largest White Russian ever made (for some reason there was never enough vodka in it, so I had to keep putting more in). Needless to say I passed out around the 24th - 25th round. Thank God I had some players in the que.

oops, forgot why I posted... saw eddie's and got sidetracked.

The smartest thing for anyone to do is take advice from someone on the messageboards who is competing against you for the $40K. Dyv's advice sounds good but I would take it with a grain of salt... I'm sure he was trying to figure out ways that he can win the big $$$ :D

I had the 4th pick and not as many players slipped as I hoped. You had a lot of value in your draft I didn't even have a shot to get most of your team where you got them.

1 Puljos (Gone 2nd overall)

2 Kemp (mid 4th round)

3 Fielder (My pick in 3rd)

4 Ellsbury (Gone 2 picks before me in 4th)

5 R Martin (Gone 4th round)

6 R Furcal (mid 5th)

7 Oswalt (1st pick 7th)

8 Gallardo (last pick of 9th)

9 Lester (mid 8th)

10 Ludwick (end 9th)

11 Motte (mid 12th)

12 Either (last pick 10th)

13 Josh Johnson (last pick 11th)

14 J Lopez (mid 12th)

15 Cantu (3rd pick 14th)

16 E Santana (1st in 15th)

17 B Ziegler (end 17th)

18 Kershaw (mid 15th)

19 J Loney (end 12th)

20 Delmon Young (mid 22nd)

21 F Lopez (end 21st)

22 Kawakami (my pick in 22nd)

23 R Hernandez (mid 20th)

24 D Span (1st pick 23rd)

25 Escobar (mid 23rd)

26 Uehara (mid 25th)

27 Renteria (3rd pick 28th)

28 Hafner (2nd pick 23rd)

29 R Soriano (not drafted)

30 Cust (mid 28th)

Some very nice picks in there. Again I wish I had some guys like Loney, Kershaw, Ellsbury, Martin around when you got them!

All drafts are different. My partner Stan had a team start out like this in one of his online teams picking 9th.

Hamilton, Texiera, Morneau, Roberts, Furcal, Martin, Nathan, Kazmir, Fuentes, Bruce for his first 10 picks. Some other steals Wainwright 13, Myers 14, Weaver 17, Gomez 19, Street 21.

[/QB]Was hoping Liriano would get back to me at 6 rd pick 10 but went 2 picks in front of me,so then gambled on Furcal.Really happy Ludwick made it at 10th round pick 10,thought that was a good buy.Could have taken Lindstrom,Ray ,or Hoffman in the 15th round but couldnt pass on Cantu and then was lucky Ziegler was there in the 17th.Loney in the 19th was a value pick thought he should have gone a few rounds earlier.I think i have Uehara in 6 of my 9 leagues.Biggest regret not taken Carmona in the 22nd round and setteling on Kawakami.Hafner in the 28th was another value pick. good luck
