Congratulations to Ryan Kelly whose team led the way in the Online Championship last week with 5,116 points.

A huge week from Johnny Damon (.419-5-15) led the way offensively. Miguel Tejada (.367-2-11), Ryan Zimmerman (.469-1-6) and Miguel Cabrera (.318-2-5) also had good weeks at the plate. Rick Porcello, John Maine, Edwin Jackson and Justin Verlander combined for six wins and 43 strikeouts while Troy Percival and Huston Street combined for four saves.

Congratulations again to Ryan and good luck to everyone in the Online Championship this week.

Ryan Kelly Is Week 5 Online Championship Winner

It was a week for huge offense for Ryan Kelly and the big weeks at the plate helped propel him to the top of the Online Championship in Week 5.

A huge week from Johnny Damon (.419-5-15) led the way offensively as Kelly’s team was first in the Online Championship last week with 5,116 points.

The Week 5 victory was another good sign that Kelly’s team is starting to come around after a sluggish start to the season.

“I had a real slow start and my pitching staff got killed the first week, but after that each week it has improved,” he said. “I added Porcello to my staff and switched Hanrahan for Huston Street. I have also added Thome and Cust for some power when I need it because I felt I was weak in that category.

“I also got lucky with Bobby Abreu stealing 11 bases the first three weeks. The one regret I have in my draft is not trying to get Carl Crawford I drafted Soto in the fourth round who has killed me this year and I believe I could have had Crawford there and then I would have probably drafted Martinez, who I had high on my list of catchers or even waited on Mauer, who seems to be killing the ball now.

“However, it is a long season and I would just say use you free-agent money and address needs early there is no sense as being the guy with 850 free-agent dollars with three weeks to go because no one is dropping anyone good at that point anyway. Even if you get a star you only get him for three weeks, address your needs now.”

The 27-year-old Kelly lives in Branford, CT and is an accountant.
