Shawn:

Nice job pal, I knew you would find a way to grab some headlines in this baseball season. Now that your back from insulting all of those San Diego Padres fans with Jim Ferrari, we are all in for some strong finishing Desperado teams!

Congrats on your fine achievement, your former league mate took DOWN the prize in the Main Event this week. That was only possible becausee he didn't have to lock horns with you this season, just ask him. ;)

Nice job, Shawn. First for the week in online and second in the main. That's a pretty good week. It's good to know that even rookies can have success in these games.

Who?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Shawn, congrats on a great week in both games. This season (thus far) has been terrific considering I don't have you as a leaguemate.

Sometimes, baseball is a very simple game. If you get good pitching and good hitting, you have a chance to have considerable success.

Just ask Shawn Childs.

Last week, Childs got the pitching and hitting he needed as his team topped the field in the Online Championship field with 4,955.5 points.

Prince Fielder (.250-3-9), Kendry Morales (.450-2-4), Troy Tulowitzki (.320-1-6-2) and Victor Martinez (.346-1-4) led the way offensively. Joe Blanton and Zack Greinke combined for four wins and 26 strikeouts while Rafael Soriano had three saves to lead the pitching staff.

“When your elite double starters pitch well, you have a chance to win the week if your hitting will cooperate,” Childs said. “This probably happens only about seven times a year and most of the time, the pitching lets you down first.”

Achieving the proper balance between hitting and pitching was the foremost goal on Childs’ mind with this team.

“I went in to the draft hoping to draft a solid starting pitching base with one solid closer,” he said. “I wanted to draft a balance hitting team. I had the third pick and I preferred to start my team with Hanley Ramirez or Albert Pujols, but I needed to catch a break for that to happen.

“The third and fourth picks were a minefield this year as David Wright and Jose Reyes failed to live up to our expectations. I drafted Jose Reyes and wanted to draft a power hitter and a solid 20/20 player on the 2/3 turn. I hit on both players as Matt Kemp and Prince Fielder had great seasons.

“I made a few mistakes in the draft, but my late push has allowed me to be in contention for a second place despite losing my No. 1 pick for most of the year. I was actually hoping to draft Tim Lincecum on one of my Online teams, but I passed on him in this draft in the third round. He never made it to me in any other online draft after this draft.”

Childs lives in in Forestdale, MA and is engaged with three children.

For Shawn to be in constant contention, it shows that luck plays a minimal role in fantasy baseball. It is impossible to argue "I lost my best players and that is why I lost"

Psssst, hey Greg, do me a solid and change the 16th letter of the subject title from an e to an a....just to mess with Childs...

The shortened subject should now read,

'Shawn Childs is weak....
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
