Start To End

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Sat May 05, 2012 5:05 pm

The Chris Sale move triggers two trains of thought-

One- Sale cannot start games the whole season.
The reason, is the important thing.
If it's his elbow and the ChiSox can somehow get a whole season out of him that way, then good for them.
But, it sounds like they're trying to get as much out of Sale before the inevitable surgery.
Some say it is because of his tall, thin frame. This sounds like a misdirect.

Two- Is anybody else wondering what the ChiSox really think about Addison Reed?
A darling among some fantasy players, the ChiSox look like they're going out of their way not to give the ball to Reed in the ninth inning.
They know something we don't. Or, they think they know something we don't.
Either way, it is beginning to look like Reed is a wasted pick till the White Sox decide they are out of any pennant race.

What if Roy Oswalt comes back as a closer?
If I'm the Angels or Yankees, I'm putting in a call to his agent and tell him that the time required to be in the role would be less than as a starter and may lengthen his career by five years.

Who are other starting pitchers that could be candidates to close?
Max Scherzer, AJ Burnett, and Ricky Nolasco.
All are hit and miss as starters. But, given another three-four miles an hour on the fastball over just one inning, they could be efficient closers.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
