Sandy Koufax is the only National League pitcher to throw a perfect game and win a World Series game the same year.

Matt Cain can join him this year.

Like the 1945 Tigers, the 2012 Tigers only won 88 games during the season.
Only four teams bewtween those two Tiger teams had as many, or less than 88 wins and won a World Series.

Is Justin Verlander the Anti- Stephen Stasburg?
Verlander has not thrown less than 120 pitches in all of his post season appearances this year.

Going back to September and including the playoffs, Verlander has given up just four earned runs in 52 innings pitched.

It is assured that a batting title winner will also win the World Series.
If the Giants win, it'll be the first time a Batting Average leader/ World Series winner accomplished the feat since 1963, when Tommy Davis turned the trick.
If the Tigers win, it'll be the first time since Bernie Williams did it in 1999.

The Giants also boast the * batting leader in Melky Cabrera....

In 75 post season at bats, Cabrera hit .213 with one home run.

It seems like they've been a lot more involved, and they have, but their batting averages don't reflect it.
