Surprises

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Fri Nov 30, 2012 4:13 pm

These are just little eye openers-

Matt Cain's lifetime win/loss record is 85-78

The Braves trade Tommy Hanson for Jordan Walden

The Royals didn't give up the farm to get Tommy Hanson

Hunter Pence stolen base totals the last three years have gone from 18 to 8 to 5

Joe Mauer has been in the Bigs, nine years already.
He's never had 100 rbi or 100 runs scored

Jay Bruce is only 25.
His homers and rbi are on a nice vertical
21/52
22/58
25/70
32/97
34/99

Only three pitchers have struck out at least 200 batters the last four years:
Justin Verlander
Felix Hernandez
The other pitcher is the surprise and is at the bottom of this post....Think about it.

At age 38,RA Dickey has been in the Bigs 11 years.
The last three years, his strike outs have progressed from 104 to 134 to 230
Before those three years, he'd never thrown over 117 innings in a season.

Albert Pujols has gone 400 games without hitting a triple

Pujols is trending badly
.357 to .327 to .312 to .299 to .285

Rich Hill's ERA was 1.83 last year....with a 1.42 WHIP

Jacoby Ellsbury has played six years
56 lifetime homers
32 in one year

Over his last 77 starts, Cliff Lee is only 27-23

Hanley Ramirez averaged 40 stolen bases during his first five years.
Twenty, the last two years
Soriano career tract?

Dan Uggla has never scored less than 80 runs in a season

Craig Kimbrel's k/bb ratio was 8/1 last year

Angel Pagan had 15 triples last year.
The New York Yankees had 13

Last year, Everth Cabrera had a .246 avg with only 24 rbi
But, for fantasy players, he had 44 stolen bases.
This does not rival the ultimate judy stats.
In 1986, Vince Coleman hit .232 with 29 rbi
Coleman stole 107 bases

The other pitcher with four years of at least 200 strike outs?
Yovani Gallardo
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Dan,

Where is your list of sleepers?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
