I don't usually let rumors get to me. I usually pass them off as gossip and deal with the truth when it comes out.
Still, some of them stick in my craw....and no, I do not know what a 'craw' is.
Here are some stats
2012- 122 games- .235/72/19/60/0
2012- 112 games- .287/58/14/60/1
Both players struggle with being in the lineup. The top player played in 80 games in 2011, only 42 in 2010
The bottom player played in 126 games in 2011, 95 in 2010.
The top player is rumored to have contracts on the table for one year at 12 million dollars, or two years at 18 million doollars.
He is Kevin Youkilis.
I think of Youkilis as a zero category player. Nobody can fill categories from the bench.
I don't draft guys like Youkilis.
In real life, it's worse.
Shawn Childs doesn't like the man.
If Shawn Childs doesn't like a man, he's lost a place in the Hood.
No Manhood for Youkilis.
Youkilis has turned himself from 'The Greek God of Walks' to 'The Greek God of Pox'.
If there is a malady, Youkilis will find it and not play.
It's sad in a lot of ways.
The owner of the bottom line of stats knows his time is up.
Chipper Jones knows it would be cheating the Braves or any other team that would want to sign him to a contract.
He knows, because of his knees, that he'd be shortchanging those teams.
Kevin Youkilis, on the other hand, doesn't mind.

Re: Thet're Not Saying 'Youk'
I know you dont like Youk at all but his games played in 2010 was 102 and 120 in 2011. the 4 years before that he averaged 143 games played and is only 33 years of age. probably too young to retire but if he continues his subpar play the end will come soon enough. chipper was drawing a 18-20 mil salary for a few years of subpar play.

You're right, I had a misreading on games played.Bama wrote:I know you dont like Youk at all but his games played in 2010 was 102 and 120 in 2011. the 4 years before that he averaged 143 games played and is only 33 years of age. probably too young to retire but if he continues his subpar play the end will come soon enough. chipper was drawing a 18-20 mil salary for a few years of subpar play.
I actually liked Youkilis at one time, but I feel he retired two years ago and didn't tell anybody. He has no fire.
He's become that softball player that shows up sometimes for games, and when he does, he makes teammates feel as if the's doing them a favor.
I know Chipper made more.
But even with the balky knees, if both agreed to play one year for a five million dollar contract, I'd want Chipper over Youkilis every day.
Chipper's presence in the locker room alone, and the lack of presence by Youkilis in more ways than one, would make it an easy choice for me.
Paying 12 million for either at this point is freaking $*#%@@#$^!!!!!
35 Million dollars for two players at the same position for the Yankees, if true, is incredible!
