The 'Mia Draft'

It looks like we are going to set another record for 8 hour drafts today. The 'Mia Draft' that started Saturday at 5 pm, est will be wrapping up today. Seven days for a slow draft is perfect. There were some drafters that had to go about their business without drafting for awhile and all were courteous enough to warn the others. Most took less than a minute to draft. One time, going through 20 picks in less than 20 minutes.
The chat was constant, informational, and entertaining. Truly, the way one of these drafts should run.
I'll list the names of the folks in this draft. If entering another draft with one of these fellas, you can count on them not to slow you down.
1. Dan Kenyon
2. Rich VanFleet
3. Don Dismuke
4. Mike Edelman
5. Stan Kaye
6. Steve Jupinka
7. Sam Botnick
8. KJ Duke
9. Joe Berg
10. Roger Martin
11. Alan Greenberg
12. Mike Massotto
13. Mark Bendar
14. Ken Little
15. Ante Meich
Except for that first name, each and all, awesome.
Five stars for them, KJ!

This has been an exceptional "Draft Champions" experience. Thanks for putting it together Dan and for Mia being the "Team Captain" of each and every team.
I need to do another the first part of March Dan, any chance of you rounding up another gang? I was the guy Gekko was talking about the other night that uses these to start his prep. I have a ways yet to go.
Everything about this draft was the best that anyone can hope for from the Draft Champions leagues!
WELL DONE DAN

Joe,
First, thank you. It's great having you in drafts, I just wish you'd fly your Tiger colors a little higher
So true with Mia being the Captain of every team. What a smile-inviting video that was.
Second, quit selling yourself short. You're a good drafter.
I'm betting you give Gekko a run for his money in that league we did together.
Third, I never say never, but I think that is it for slow drafts for me. Something could lure me back in like desperation or something from left field, but I think that may have been it.
That said, best 'slow draft' season ever.
And fourth, it is 12 till the top of the hour.
I'll be eating at least 12 Fish McBites for dinner.
And I thought about you at noon today.
Definitely in the next 'Fantasy Camp'.
Thanks for the participation, Joe.

Great draft... it was a lot of fun... The best group of guys I have ever had a chance to draft with.
Hilarious conversation with KJ and Steve (and their "special" friendship)
20 minutes of chat, which I will not soon forget... Rog explaining the entire story of Mia, from beginning to end... I sat there, reading it, with my boys on either side of me.... Just gut wrenching... but a great ending... an inspiration to every one of us
Competitive, knowledgeable group, probably means a very little chance of winning.. and for the first time, I really don't mind..
Thanks Dan for doing this and for everyone I had a privelage of drafting with... it was memorable, to say the least.

You guys are awesome, great chat,no bitching and it had more of a home league feel then some of my home leagues. My only regret was actually having to go to work and not be able to spend more time the last couple of days chatting. Looking forward to meeting all of in person. Mia says thanks for the hugs. Dan thanks again for taking control and setting everything up, A true gentleman and an all around heck of a guy. A heads up for you all in the league about the interview ,it will be done this friday. After we get the link I will email it to you by using the email league option. Thanks again and Dan I hope this is the last time I hijack your thread.

With the grand prize growing everyday and new information coming out everyday, If Dan wanted to try and set something that we could try and do in 4-6 days I would be game.

. It would have to be a 150 also. All right what I am trying to say is that I am not happy with any of my teams.

No Bill, as a matter of fact I've been thinking about doing a slow/slow if anything.
I need something to think about till we get our draft spots for the Main.
And those fast/slows move too damn fast for that!
Are you going to be in Vegas, Bill ?

I'm doing a slow/slow right now. It's not all it's cracked up to be Dan, although the time to think is a process you must put yourself through.
To give you an update, as we speak we are in Day 3 round 7 pick 10. I resigned myself to this pace when we started, it hasn't been all bad. I think it's a good group that hasn't gelled yet. Day one we zoomed through 2 and half rounds in a few hours and got stalled out at a spot in the middle. This player had proclaimed that he'd be taking his time after round 2, I wasn't sure what that meant, but that's where we stalled.
Day 2 we made it though to 5.5 and stalled out at the same spot with the now obligatory slow/slow statement, "What's the hurry, it's why they call it a slow draft. We have a month before the season starts". I immediately said, uh oh, "Houston do we have a problem"?
Day three started at me using an hour and a half as I picked at 6 am pacific time, so I felt guilty but was happy that it made it to me. It probably won't make it back to me today.
With this said, I don't think the place we've stalled out is going to be an ongoing problem, but that's just a hunch. We've had 10 -14 guys in the draft room most nights. Some are getting antsy, but I think this group will work it out and come in at the 17 -21 day mark.
The bottom line is you have to go in expecting no more that a 3 round per day pace which I did. It's not living up to it so far but it might. I'm gaining a lot of learning with all the down time. Good luck and enjoy the experiance, I know you'll be better for it.

I told my wife I was going to enter a slow/slow. She said she was going to start a 'Cuss jar' where I contribute a dollar for each cuss word.
Who knows, maybe I can convert some of these folks
Yeah, probably not.
At worst, it'll be mocksturbation (Thanks Todd) till we get our draft picks.
At best, I'll make my wife rich.

Maybe she'll feel sorry for you and use the cash to surprise you with another main event team, or two, or three...!!

Sounds good Dan. It wasn't a big issue doing another draft, but if I did, I wanted to get in with you guys for a quick one. I'll be in Chicago this year. NYC last year, maybe Vegas next year.
Thanks

Hey Dan hoping I am not stepping on your toes here, I would like to do one more slow/medium/fast draft. I have had a few bad experiences in the last one (other than yours). If we could get any of this group with Bill also to take part in another one that would be great. Maybe give it a few days here and then moving it to the boards if it doesn't fill. Dont really care if it gets done in 2 days or 22 days , just want it to be with a group of courteous people ,any takers?(of course if you dont do it I will have to add you as a partner for the chat room when you need a minute to cuss)

Dan,
I've got an idea. How about we get like minded drafters to do a slow/fast draft.
Here is what I'm thinking. We get 15 guys to agree to 3 rounds per day for 30 rounds (it'll take 10 days). The last 20 rounds go at, lets say 5 rounds per day. We're done in 14 days. It's a win win, we get the luxury of drafting slow to start and absorb the info and then get it over with without the annoyance of the inevitable built in delays.
We would all have to agree to a hard stop each night after the three rounds. It might figure into the KDS. What do you think?

Joe, I'll put you on the list. I know that Bill and Roger are open minded and you guys will come up with something that worls for everybody.
As for me, I'm already way over my ('yes dear, I entered another one') quota.
