Sometimes, We Just Wanna Cry....

Sometimes this hobby just makes us want to cry. Here are some reasons why.......
On Saturday, we start looking ahead to the next weeks lineup. We'll see a Barry Zito matchup at home vs. Philly and a Jarrod Parker two start on the road for both. We know that Parker is the wild card here. He hasn't pitched well this year, but even in losses is very capable of striking out seven or eight batters. Oakland is playing pretty well and they may even one, possibly two of his starts.
Zito is the known. He pitches better at home. Most of the Phils strength is from the left side of the plate.
But usually, Zito strikes out as many times as Tom Cruise would in a singles bar.
Depending on how my team is doing in the standings, odds are, I'll roll the dice with Parker.
So last night, Parker gets hit like an 95 year old man's nuts (a lot of long balls)
And worse, he may have to go on the disabled list. Which is a little like the NFL cancelling the Monday Night Football game after losing bets on Sunday. There is no way to get even.
For those of us who chose Parker, we just want to cry.
Cry because of the luck.
Cry because we chose Parker in the first place.
And cry knowing that Barry Zito is gonna Koufax the Phils.
Here's another scenario....
Our lineups are in. It's 7:05 and most games have started.
Brian Dozier starts his game with a base hit. He steals second. He steals third. He scores on a sac fly.
The next inning, Dozier hits a two run homer. We pat ourselves on the back. Man, we were smart to pick up Dozier two weeks ago .
Then as we're looking over our lineup, the realization hits us that we sat Dozier down this week.
He had three games. Kozma had four. And then we wait. We wait for Kozma to even get a hit during that time, let alone anything else.
We just want to cry.
We cry because we let that extra game influence us.
We cry because we waited onour shortstop during the draft.
We cry because we know if we had started Kozma that Dozier would never had done all that.
We just know it.
Or this....
During the off season we get worked up over getting a pitcher, Matt Moore.
We draft him on every 50 rounder.
We make plans for the live drafts.
And when that facillitator asks us who we would like, out of our mouth comes Jared Weaver.
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?
'I didn't mean that!'... We say in our heads.
But, it's too late. Jared Weaver is on our team.
We waited six months to say Matt Moore and we say Jared Weaver.
And Weaver getting hurt is the punishment we must endure.
We deserve it.
The Fantasy God has spoken.
