Questions and Junk

What happens when a team needs to send down more players from the Big Club than they want to move up from the Minors?
Ask the Mets.

Paternal Leave. Grieve leave. High school graduation leave.
What's next for players?
Anniversary leave
Birthdays
Family Birthdays
Family Reunions
You laugh or snicker, but I'll just bet they happen.

At AAA, Omaha has a record below .500 and their best player has been Xavier Nady.
The passing of an era?

I love watching Trout, Harper, and Machado. And if Harper obtains the skill to stay healthy, of the three, he will have the most prolific power numbers.
But watching Machado and Trout daily is a treat and who knows where there numbers will end up?
Am I alone in saying, have there been more fun-to-watch younger guys like this....ever...in our lifetimes? Considering both age and talent? Ever?
Enjoy.

I hate young pitchers.
Wait, that's too strong....I abhor young pitchers....there, that's better.
It's tough for me to bid high on failure. Major league hitters have seen it all. It's tough for a pitcher to come from the farm and make a difference.
I learned this lesson with Max Scherzer. He went for outrageous sums of money. And flunked.
But like with Fernandez, and Gausman, and Cingrani, and Odorizzi, and probably Wheeler and Wacha, and others, the we'll see flashes of brilliance. But it'll take time for 'it' to happen.'It' is a bitch. 'It' takes patience. We don't get to see the brilliance of 'it' continuously until these guys learn how to pitch.
We always seem to forget that.

Is Vernon Wells tired of playing everyday....already?

Who would you rather have batting for you against a right hander with a gun to your loved one's head, BJ Upton or Jordan Schafer?
Yeah, me too.

Remember those drafting Ichiro thinking Yankee Stadium would improve home run production?
I get the feeling Ichiro wouldn't change his approach with whiffle ball dimensions.

And for those teams in 50 rounders that had hurt catchers on their roster and were 'forced' to play Dioner Navarro today....
Play the Lotto today.....

ARod wasn't great right out of the chute though. It took a year. Seattle didn't even play him much in the playoffs his first year.

I do remember Mays and Mantle, but not their early years.

These kids are playing like they belong right off the bat.
Incredible really.

agreed. I am keeping it in the back of my mind that for years I thought a rod was clean. I knew bonds sosa and mcquire were juiced- so I am hoping trout is clean.

I know I'm biased, but as a Mets fan it sure was special watching Strawberry and Gooden in the mid-80's. We had the most exciting young hitter and the most exciting young pitcher in the game both on our team. You never went for a drink during a Straw at bat and you never made plans on a night Doc was pitching. It was a great time at Shea. The future seemed so bright. "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent." So true.
